What will be the future of marriage?  Will marriage become more inclusive i.e. more open in terms of relationships or will marriage become more exclusive i.e. limited to relationships only between husband & wife?    Your thoughts?

I believe marriage will become more inclusive with each new generation. At least that is how it has been with most social decorum in the U.S.

During the 1960s when the "free love" movement, cohabitation rose, and major strides in birth control were made some feared that would be the end of marriage. However according to statistics 2.3 million weddings take place each year in the U.S.

The passing of marriage equality laws in various countries insures that in 20 years or more what may have shocked some people will be considered the norm. There was a time where interracial marriage was not tolerated and those who did marry risked going to jail.

It wasn't until 1967 in the Loving VS Virginia that the Supreme court struck down all marital laws that discriminated based upon race.
That was only 52 years ago. Today interracial marriage is no big deal.

Ultimately if someone is against something they simply do not have to do it. Marriage in fact is not a requirement to for happiness.

The rise is definitely looking very inclusive. But at one point it wil digress and head back toward inclusive. We are at a age where true love does not exist. This sounds like a bold statement. And it is. But relationships are in fact more constraining then helpful to our personal development. When have we ever met a person that has truly inspired us to be a better person? I mean this in a deeply rich way. Marriages are now orchestrated out of fear. Fear of being alone. And due to some sort of familiarity with each other. We are attracting relationships that don’t serve our best purpose. How many marriages look happy after 10 years? How many have the same sexua life as before? We are at a time where we at to live free and experience what are heart tells us. There’s no wonder he society is taking a more rebellious way of choosing partners and love. Love has become a hierarchy caste system where the only ones in ur reach are the individuals who are in are social or wealth class. The future will become inclusive as individuals will begin to understand the wisdom and spiritual essence needed in relationship. Religion, corporate structure, and technology are not helping us at all right now.

Society will change it. But I believe in traditional marriage.

Marriage is the unity of two liked-minded people.  It doesn't matter if it is traditional or not.   Marriage is beyond boundaries- it is the unity of two souls, whether the souls are heterosexual or LBGT.   It even doesn't make any different whether the marriage is individual or court/church-approved.  Marriage will evolve in the future.  Each person has his/her definition of what marriage IS.

I think we need to teach children how to respect the elderly and learn from their stories of how they met their spouse and what they did to keep a strong and long marriage.  Our elderly are so full of knowledge and they gained that knowledge through years of experiences.  Good and bad.
