Some posts in other forums say they believe this - along with using contraception is wrong etc

I think you're confusing 'christians' with 'catholics'.

I thought that applied to catholics, but unless I'm mistaken, one said "spirtitual person" and other said "christian"

On further investigation, one has a hub that says all christians prohibited contraception until the 1930s, not just catholics

            many do prohibit contraception
but in my mind --(they just don't agree w/ it)
they can still enjoy sex as much as they want
            whenever
            whereever
            however........

Christians understand that Sex is a gift from God, and an excellent way of keeping a married couple interested in one another. Sex is mentioned quite a bit in the Old Testament, and spoken of highly. A man and woman in a marriage own one another's body's, so one can never deny the other. A Christian husband and wife are only allowed to say "no" for sickness or prayer.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking Christianity is boring or stiffing. God isn't some big prudish bully, out to spoil everyone's fun. People who tell you otherwise either don't know God at all, or have an agenda that precludes responsibility to an authority greater than themselves.

Jesus Himself said God wanted man to live more abundantly. Can't do that if you're not having "fun."

Does a headache count as sickness?

Can't say no? Bet my hubby wants me to turn christian now...!

Headaches are best relieved by endorphins, and nothing produces endorphins like sex.

So; Sex cures headaches. What is to be gained by saying no to your husband, beyond a frustrated husband?

So are you saying if I have a husband with a sex drive that makes him ask maybe 5-6 times a day, I can't say no?

Thanks but sometimes I have a baby to care for, house to clean, assignments to do, or just finished work and stressed out.

YOU married him. Do you believe your own ability to judge a man you want to marry is so inept that you would marry a fool who didn't know you had things to do? I personally, having read a few of your hubs, have much greater faith in your intellect than that, Wry.

I love this assumption that men are the root of all evil, or that women have no sex drive.

The question was if Christians have sex for fun. Damned Skippy we do.

I guess you can't see the overt male domination aspects of your post?  Big white christian man is god and everything else under him, starting with HIS woman !

Hmmm there's an interesting religious forum post - does christianity cause abusive relationships by making the male the dominant member of a relationship?

alternate poetposted 14 years agoin reply to this

More than that - christianity and islam both work hard at male domination, because domination is what they are about first and foremost.  And as they say, it begins at home.

I joked above abouth the vicars daughter being the certain lay - the more humane description would be the most psychologically damaged and abused.

In Catholics we believe the man is the head of the family but the woman is just as important as the heart
                  It just makes things easier
and as far as having it 5-6 times a day, I think using reason would be of help,,and that certainly could not and should not be because of each working w/ jobs and babies etc etc

                  we believe in Logic also

Poet> I am indeed ALL about Masculine Dominance. That doesn't necessarily make me a Bad Man. You, evidently, feel the world would be a better place if Evil Whitey the Christian would just shut-up, lay down, and geld himself. Feel free to lead by example on that one.

And don't you dare lump Christianity in with Islam. Here in America, Christians were behind Lincoln and freeing the slaves. Christians were behind the suffrage movement, and gave women the vote. Christians built Hospitals and Collages all across America, promoting scientific inquiry and societal progress. Christians abolished child labor.

The Bible promotes family and charity and personal fulfillment and liberty and Peace and Love and Joy. Protection of the weak. Respect and honor, both of the parent and the child. It does not condone abuse or neglect, nor does it promote infidelity.

Islam nor Atheism has done nothing to rival any of that.

    absolutely not.
Christians and Catholic both marry to procreate AND have fun.
Sometimes they marry so as not to fornicate
but many say they really enjoy sex
and some married say it's even more special than "one night stands" and such that it intensifies the pleasure and specialness of it.........................................

Gen 18:11  Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
Gen 18:12  Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?

Sex between a husband and wife is always permissible.  If you look at the passages above, Sarah talks about having pleasure when God told them they would have a son.  She was already an old woman.

God has ordained the union of a man and a woman.  Sex is to be a time of intimacy.  This kind of intimacy is not to be shared with others other than your husband or wife.

The marriage bed is undefiled. Heb 13:4  Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

It doesn't matter if you believe it or agree with it.  The Op asked about Christians and sex inside a marriage.  The question was answered using the book that we follow.

And it is nice to see you more active here lately, the newcomers are mostly drive-by flashy evangelical types with no substance at all.  It is satisfying at least to see some substance in the post  --  however much we will always disagree big_smile

A man who calls a horse's rear-end the source for the Bible gets to claim others have no substance? Said with a smiley, to be sure. It's been my experience that repeated use of the smiley is the mark of a... Less than dominant personality, one might say.

Poet, all you've offered here is insult and ill willed innuendo. Not a shred of truth or substance in a word you've said. Did somebody spit in your bean curd everyday, this week?

I am not a religious person but I believe that  sex, when done with the person you love, is something that unites, is an expression of love. So according to my moral, very close to something spiritual.

Sex is a beautiful thing. God did not attend sex just for us to have babies. If you think about it, When God created man and woman he said that we are to become one flesh. Now when we have sex we are one and the feeling that one recieves during this time is remarkable. If you know your science you would know that there are two kinds of mammals that have sex for fun. one is of course humans and the other is dolphins. So bottom line is this Sex is an awesome gift God gave us.
