Which bible version do you read/follow? Why?

   Which bible version do you read/follow? Why?
   
   Many people stick to one version/translation, particularly KJV (King James Version), but some people don't mind other versions or have at least two or three other bible versions for studying the Word of God. I am just curious if there are some people who read other bible versions that they are more comfortable than others.

   I think most versions have something to offer. And while the KJV isn't perfect, that's the one I go back to get as close to the original words and meaning as possible without learning Greek and Hebrew. But some of today's versions simply get the point across - especially to many who are unfamiliar with the Bible - better than the KJV. I still think the KJV has the most beautiful language than any other version, though.

   I prefer the New Living Translation just because it is easier to understand without all the thees and thous... .

   I rely on the King James Version, and use it for the standard; however, I may use other versions to clarify something.

   New American Standard is my version of choice.  The New King James is good, as is the English Standard Version that just came out within the last two years.  The NASB is closest to word for word translation.

   I use The Scriptures 1998 version on ESword ( an awesome online Scripture study tool) and the HalleluYah Scriptures. Both of these versions use the True Hebrew Names of our Precious Creator, people and places. I have found them in a number of cases closer to the Masoretic Hebrew and Textus Receptus Greek in comparing. I used to be a KJV only person until I discovered the translators replaced our Creator's names with generic titles over 6000 times!

   I was raised with the King James Version. When I started to read it myself, I became frustrated with the Old English style. I was then given the Living Version of the bible, which reads like a story. It was much simpler but the application of it was difficult for me. After listening to Joyce Meyers, a well known evangelist, I began reading the Amplified Version of the bible and have been with that version ever since. I have a parallel bible of the Amplified and King James versions. Whenever there is a verse that isn't quite self explanatory, I read the Amplified which is much more clear to me. The Amplified is the original Hebrew and Greek text of the bible translated into English.
