Yes, exactly. I think there is a worship of success and perfection and a fear of making mistakes; and as you point out, it is through mistakes that we learn. A bit of irony there.
Thomas Edison tried dozens (I can't remember how many) materials before finding a material that would work as a light bulb element. Those first 'mistakes' were steps forward!
Thinking outside the box is the only way to go, because that's where there's clarity. I'm going to have to check out that book!
