What sort of New Year’s Resolution should a Christian make?
To try to be charitable in word and deed. Nothing else is really required.
* Stay true to God's will and word.
* Read Scripture daily and meditate on it day and night.
* Continue on in the one true faith.
* Allow no good thing to pass before your eyes.
* Rebuke evil in all its forms and ways.
* Live a life free from moral corruption and spiritual compromise.
* Do not become engrossed in the things of this world.
* Carry on with good deeds of the Spirit.
* Show the love of God to all that you meet.
* Give unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar without complaint.
* Pray, pray and give thanks without ceasing.
* Resist the temptation to worry about things.
* Share the love of God with someone new each week.
* Pray for those who persecute you.
* Forgive someone that you have held a grudge against.
* Do not let the sun set with anger still in your heart.
* Donate your time to charitable works.
* Visit those who are imprisoned or infirm.
* Practice what you preach.
* Perform random acts of kindness (in secret). Without thanks.
These are just a few things that a Child of God might want to work on throughout the year. This is not a definitive list, but it is a start. Good luck. - C.J.
Phew looks like a long list of salvation by works and human self effort you've got there.
I've got an alternative that works for everybody. Love your neighbour as yourself, and live according to your God given good conscience.
I could have come up with something trite, but I wanted to put in a little more effort than to sound like a flippant, sarcastic, judgmental know-it-all.
Being Strict religiously not that impressive most often; most of the time it is only a front, an attempt to project an image or it comes from faulty interpretation of God. I think every Christian with the being-strict-mindset should check and make it a resolution not to project that much and makes both non believers and fellow Christians look like a lesser human being.
The best resolution for Christians is to enrich more our Catholic faith by going back to God and learn the true meaning of life.
Everybody has different challenges and personal resolutions to be made. However, you can't go wrong with love; To be perfected in love...a deeper love for God, others, and yourself. Everything else will go into place.
I think the resolutions for Christians should involve deepening their relationship with God, really working on the things that may be preventing you from having a solid walk with Him and TRUSTING Him FULLY.
We should "try" God out--really push our faith to extraordinary levels. I think a lot of Christians don't understand just how able God is. We pay a lot of lip service and SAY we trust Him, that we believe in Him, but we don't SHOW Him that we do!
Like Peter, "Get out of the boat and WALK ON THE WATER!" And don't look down!

Have you ever kept a New Year’s resolution? As we bring in the new year, it is time to make resolutions of what we hope to accomplish. Often times we get into our old habits and our resolutions are forgotten. Have you ever accomplished or stuck with a new year’s resolution? What was it?
