   What was the SCARIEST experience you EVER had?
   
   Mine was Time Scare in Times Square NYC.  I decided to end my Sunday night by visiting Times Scare, a haunted house. Well, haunted is putting it very, very mildly.  I was there for FIVE MINUTES and decided to LEAVE......... Well, one of the actors who played the corpse in Times Scare hugged me and told me to return once I have the courage.

   When I was a kid we lived in Mississippi when a tornado blew into town. It destroyed a lot of buildings, including part of our school and the hospital, sucked up a couple of jets right off the landing strip of the AF base we lived on, killed a lot of live stock in the area; basically ravaged the whole landscape! That was pretty darned scary. All these years later I can still hear that wailful sound as the tornado descended.

   I still shudder when I think of the most scary experience that I've ever had. It was in broad daylight and I was alone. I drove across the Royal Gorge Bridge in Colorado. It was off season, so I was actually the only tourist there at the time. I tell you I drove across that bridge mostly with my eyes closed! Which is pretty stupid since I could have panicked and run off the bridge! The only thing scarier was - I got to the other side and realized I had to drive BACK across the bridge! I never thought I was scared of heights before that day. But that really scared me, being on that bridge in a car, alone. I went back to Royal Gorge and rode the train at the bottom of the gorge. Now that was awesome!

   I visited a zoo in a third world country. They had a new leopard, fresh from the jungle, pacing the cage. I put my face right up against the mesh, and, suddenly, he was right up on the other side, glaring at me from about three inches away. I never saw him move. His eyes were the scariest thing I had ever seen.

   I had the car one day and had to go out at about 10:30 at night to go pick him up.  I had done thins before and nothing unusual happened.  This night though I walked out onto my porch and then we have a ramp to the driveway.  When I got to the end of the ramp all my hair stood on end all over my entire body.  I did not hear or see anything.  Well it was pitch black where I love at that time of night.  I had the choice to go back into the house and call my husband and tell him to have someone bring him home...or...I could run to the car, lock all the doors and turn on all the lights.  I ran to the car and locked the doors and turn on all the light.  I did not see anything, nothing, nada, zilch.  We have seen a black bear many years ago, and we have coyotes and snakes, raccoons and possums, but I did not see anything.  That was a very scary experience.  We got a motion detector the very next day.  I still do not know what the heck was out there.  I do not go out at night anymore.

   As a child I lived very near a 12th century priory church which had a gothic style graveyard, all overgrown, with sarcophagi and other remnants laid around. This graveyard was connected by a narrow alley to a small street where we used to play as kids. The Big Dare was to run down this alley - about 100 yards long - at night in the pitch black and try to avoid the Blue Lady, a wailing ghost who drifted around at night challenging any boy she met. She was the mother of a knight who lost his life in the Crusades in the Middle east long ago. If you couldn't answer her questions she'd start this weird screaming and swallow you whole if not turn you mad.
   I tell you, running down that alley was the scariest thing I've ever done! Luckily I managed to survive.

   LOL! Great question!
   
   1) When I was really little, I couldn't get a bottle of water open. Naturally, using a knife to pry to cap off seemed like a good idea. It wasn't. Long story short, I came within an inch or so of stabbing myself in the eye.
   
   2) I was driving on a divided interstate (two lanes either direction). I was passing a semi on the left. Half-way in, the semi driver decided to switch lanes and almost ran me off the road into a ditch. Thank God for horns.
   
   3) Sometimes I get what I call "road hypnosis". I'll start at point A, and arrive at point B not recalling anything about the journey between. Yeah. Once I was in my driveway, and suddenly I was pulling into the lot at work--had no clue what had happened in between. I get it bad on interstates, too. Sometimes I'll look at the clock and it's like 5 minutes pass in the span of a couple seconds. Scary to think what could happen in one of the "gaps".
