As long as they are not preaching about superiority of their faith or advocating some kind of hatred, I believe there is no harm in listening, provided you are willing to.
However to follow or not to follow the speech or preachings is a personal choice that one needs to make basis his faith and rationale. Never go by the audience opinion or follower count. The herd mentality is worst!
In India and elsewhere too, you will find a lot of self proclaimed saints who are merely seeking to make profit by cheating people in the name of God/Religion and they should be completely ignored.
ya sir you are right this all happen in India. Sometime we are also forced by our parent to follow the speech of saint.
Thanks sir for your answer...
It is the Heart that will teach you. Love and serve. Seek! The old saying that if you take one step to God, He will take 99 to meet you, is absolutely real. Go inwards... never worry about what you cannot change.
Yes we should follow the saints.
These days people are following immoral drugged fools who give atrocious role models to the young. Money and glamour are the "gods". Awful.
Saint Marilyn Monroe? Really? Saint Elvis? Saint MJ? All their personal lives became an overindulgent tragedy of excess.
The true saints teach compassion, selflessness and moderation. They provide solid role models of tolerance and health.
I think you are right but there are lots of fake saints, so there a question arises how we can identify a true saints.
Many Seers, Rishis and yes, some Saints are documented as being able to heal; to commune with nature and even God. St Theresa of Avila; St. John of the Cross; Padre Pio; Pere Jean Nicholas Grou. They wrote or preached and their words were taken down and to this day is followed by many. Read Brother Laurence's The Practice of The Presence of God.
The Imitation of Christ, by Thomas A Kempis, is regarded by some as second only to the Bible in popularity. Now 'follow' can imply walking blindly to some. St Paul exhorts us to be Imitators of Christ... to let our lives be a benchmark for our interior journey and to inspire younger folks in Christ Jesus.
So yes, by all means, we should adhere by what feels good and right to the Heart; the inner Conscience, and much of this is incorporated in the teachings of those that walked with God. I bid you much Peace.
God wants us to be happy. God explained to me the formula of information filter. If you have not created an information filter please forget about happiness forever! Anyone can deceive you because you can not know all the information in the world. Saint does not want to deceive you but the devil wants to deceive you.
