Do you think homosexuality is a sin?

My take is either you believe God's Word or not! If He calls it a sin, then it is a sin. Let me be clear, what I'm referring to is the Sin of homosexuality. That's what sin is isn't it. In general a sin is an ACT that violates a moral rule. So why is it that sooo many so-called Christians are condoning this immoral lifestyle? Although this is a public forum and I expect to receive answers from all types of people, I am really interested in hearing from professing Christians on the matter. Please shed some light on why Christians are taking this stance against the Holy Word of God.

Many allow it because God teaches us tolerance. It isn't our life to live, it's theirs. I am not personally a homosexual, but I know many who are. We all sin, it states it right in the Bible otherwise Jesus would have never had to die on the cross for us. Sin or not, it's not up to us to judge them. God is the only one who should ever judge them because he created them.

If you listen to the quoters of the scriptures than to them it's a sin, but they fail to addrsss that Jesus died for our sins on the cross. Ministers edited the truth according to the preaching of the word that many hold as away to keep women in their place.

If God is love than Christ holds the same qualities of loving our neighbors don't matter, what they life style might be.

It is a sinful lifestyle that must be repented of in order to be saved.  One can not be a practicing homosexual (notice "practicing") and claim salvation by grace.  Why?  The Bible's very clear:

Romans 1:26-32: “…God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, …that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.” Do you see Gay Pride movements here?

My answer may seem judgmental or wrong in the minds of many, but these are not MY WORDS.  These are straight out of the Holy Bible.  If God gives someone over to such things, to a depraved mind, it is for condemnation, not to be saved by grace...here's one more passage on that:

Jude 1:4 "those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness [sexual freedom] and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ."  Repent and be saved, in Jesus' Name ~ Amen.

God's Word tells me it is sin...Amen.

However, Satan provokes me with questions. I have been gay all of my life...soon to be 70 years worth. I did not realize it until I was 34 years old. I was not drawn to promiscuity. I have been with one woman for 35 years. Our is relationship is built on love, not sex. I have never ever been with a man and never will...It seems to me that something in God's masterpiece is different from the norm.

Sure it is a sin. So is cheating on your spouse.  Lying on your taxes.  It isn't just homosexuality that is being condoned.  It is all kinds of sin. As Christians we are being bombarded with the message to be tolerant and accept all beliefs. It is how Christianity is becoming watered down and smooth. The Bible calls the last church lukewarm does it not?

    Hi:
You look to be such a young beautiful young lady. I am glad that you have a strong faith. I am sure you have many talents and could do a lot to relieve suffering in the world. Why then is the matter of who sleeps with who important to you? There are so many other issues to be concerned about.

Slavers claimed that the Bible, in Proverbs, gave them the right to hold Africans in bondage and sell  us around the world. According to Chrisitans the Bible led them to move across Europe and the Middle East killing people in the name of Christ during the Crusades and Inquisitions. Missionaries went to country after country killing the indigenous people so that the governments could take their lands.

Remember that the Bible is, among other things, a written history of the Jewish people. It reflects their moral codes at htat time. If you think the Bible is the inspired word of God then why are there no women writers? There are none recorded because a male dominated people, at that time Jews, wrote the Bible and again it relfected their own ethics, not those of God.

Allowing millions of children to starve to death everyday, allowing the mentally ill to wander in the streets homeless, to allow women and children to be homeless, allowing human beings to live without clean drinking water, amassing billions of dollar, using up 2/4 of the worlds natural resources, American terriorism through corporate domination, child soliders, sex trafficking, 18 people in Hong Kong living in 1000sf, each with his or her own cage: these are sins.

Hundres of people living in the cemetary in Cairo Egypt and New Orleans, people living in the garbage dumps and raising their children there, women being infected with AIDS in African nations because they cannot refuse to have sex with their infected husbands.

A sin is spending 700 billion dollars to bail the country's richest companies out of their self inflicted financial quick sand, while the rest of us lose our jobs, our homes, our health insurance, our dignity.

    Need I go on?

Why are we so worried about what goes on in the privacy of other people's bedrooms? People loving people:  there are many things much worse than that. Above is a list of sins staring all of us in the face. What are we doing about them?

I am an ordained Christian minister willing to look at our religion with open eyes. Every thing the old white men told us ain't neccessarily so. It was old white men wrote the Bible.

I believe we shouldn't mince our words over matters that God has clearly highlighted in the scriptures. I prefer taking His words verbatim. Homosexuality is evidence that God has cast us away from Himself, thus, allowing us to get drunk with our evils as in Romans 1:24-27. Verse 26 and 27 crown everything by giving a final answer to your question. The punishment is spelt out in verse 32. Need we say more?

Yes it's a sin sure as tomorrow is Saturday 27th of November 2010. It's nasty stink dirty filty low down and de -grading . God took a rib from adam and made a woman for him not a man.

Romans Chapter 1 speaks of these Homosexuals etc.

People has plunged their minds to much on this thing by saying they are just normal humans and everyone's sin. Yes we all sin and come short of the glory but homosexuality is TRIPLE SIN it's completely off bound.

And satan use the politicians and high men to make laws to accept his defiance to God's word

In what book does god call it a sin, if you are refering to the bible, may I sugest you read the entire chapter that the quote is contained in not just what your homophobic church tell you it says.

As I see it God created everything, Adam and Eve, Adam and Steve, and Eve and Eddie, and anyone who claimes to be christian and then says this or that was not created by god is a lier, free will was given to use all, by god knowing exactly what we would do with it, so when you examine the nuts and bolts of it, god created sin, and based upon what goes one every day on this planet, god created it all for its own amusment.

No. personally, I don't think it is even if Im a christian myself. I think being gay is a personal choice; it's like being who you are eventhough people say otherwise. I guess what makes it a sin is the act of homosexuality. But who are we to judge people anyway, right?

Homosexuality is usually not a choice, therefore homosexual desire in it of itself is not a sin. Homosexual intercourse and "marriage" are in fact sins, however.

no but being religious and judging others because of their sexuality is. it sickens me when people use religion to judge others. no wonder so many people are turning away from religion.

No homosexuality is not a "sin". It's a severely misunderstood human condition and innate sexual preference some of us are born as. I'm pretty sure one day it will even be explained scientifically. I don't wish to insult anyone's faith, but when it starts to set people against other people, its a problem. In a world that's 4.5 billion years old,the Bible was written by men 3500 years ago and it's fallibility must be acknowledged in order to have rational discourse. There are several things in it that can not be applied to a modern day civilized society, like stoning adulterers and stoning children who misbehave to death.

In the same book that is most commonly used as a reference against homosexuality (Leviticus), it also says not to let cattle graze with other cattle, don't wear clothes made of more than one fabric, stone people to death who commit adultery, if a man has sex with his wife on her period they should be cut off from the people (like anyone would even know that anyway) and on and on.

The book of Deuteronomy says we should kill people of other religions. We should also destroy cities and kill all the inhabitants if they worship another god.

With so much in the Bible that is either completely ignored, disregarded, or taken with a grain of salt, its extremely unfair to continue the judgment of homosexuals based on scripture in these same texts.
