I sometimes listen to music. Right now I am listening, with headphones, Josh Grobin, "Gira Con Me."
A few moments ago, it was the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Erick Kunzel conducting.
Does this tell you about the state of my mind? What does your listening tell you/us about you?
Im listening to Psyche reruns cause my son is in to them.
Amazing, don't know that I had such a powerful influence on my Mum! But she had a shocking influence on me. I was trying to learn the violin, aged about 9 or 10. Mum would whistle (in tune mind you!)all the exercises I was supposed to be learning..... do think that annoyed me, like hell? You bet!
I hated piano lessons. I taught myself to play the guitar, but just enough to be able to write and perform songs... Ive never felt quite adequate. Playing the violin seems like a beautiful skill to have.
Now that's a revelation, I also taught myself guitar and sometimes play whilst I am reading the hubs. I am at the moment learning the complexities of playing classical music which is made even more complex by the fact I cant read music (tabs only give so much information).. You would have thought it would be a bit easier with working in a college that excels in music but it seems every tutor is a music critique and have very little time for guitar playing security officers..
I wish I could say I'd ever attempted something as complex as classical music, but I just learned enough to play my songs in coffee houses and little venues. I have a song I wrote for Easter posted at the end of one of my hubs (Blessed is the King). My friend Steve had it posted on his music page, he played the guitar for me. Im just warning you lest you see the pic. and think I am a big, white guy with a beard.
Attempted Beth37 is exactly the description I would have used as well, some of the Bach pieces are quite easy but I have been attempting to learn Asturias and at this stage it may take a few years. practice makes perfect though so I will keep at it as long as the family can put up wots the din.
When I get a chance I will certainly take a look at your rendition.
I would love to hear what you do if you ever put it online.
I am not that confident in my ability as yet, I am working towards that but have been told it may take some time. I am more concerned whether it entertaining myself and as of yet (3-4years in) I'm still fascinated that I can actually make music with an old wooden box and a few strings.
My son on the other hand is an excellent musician, he's been playing guitar for 17 years an played bass guitar in a band for 10 years.
To be perfectly honest I never took much notice of his playing when he was younger but now I see why people love to be able to play.
Coffee! Love sipping a good cup of "Joe" while reading Hubs and well, reading anything come to think of it
