The bible says if we repent and ask for forgiveness that we are forgiven because of God's grace and
I am not sure what the rest of your question was...but God's grace is what gives us forgiveness! The best part is no matter what ...we will always be forgiven.
We stand in the work that was done on the cross when Christ said, "it is finished". the best part is- we don't have to earn it- we just receive it. That is why it is grace- because it is free and unearned.
Ephesians 1:6-8 (New International Version)
To the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
Yes we are forgiven because of God's grace and... nothing else!
What I have learned over the years is that God knows we need to be rescued. He knows we cannot follow all of his laws by our own power. We can't just decide to be holy. So, he has provided a simple door that we simply choose to walk through.
What God wants us to know is in the Bible. He proved it, by coming to Earth as a human, then sacrificing himself, then coming back to life.
God wants to be closer to us. If we want him to be closer, step one is believing the paragraph you just read.
