How do Women Ministers feel about Christians who promote wives to be submissive to their husbands?

There seems to be more and more Christian Groups that advocate wives submit to their husbands regardless of the level of maturity or intelligence of their husbands. Many of these Groups even advocate that it is the husbands duty to discipline a misbehaving wife, usually by spanking her over his knee. How do mature Christian women feel about this?

Many of these ministers are products of broken homes and have become divorced themselves.  It is up to the woman in the relationship to make the right decision about disolving the marriage if the role of submissiveness instead puts her in the role of susceptibility to an abusive relationship.

boy is that off the wall and non scriptural advice  recommending divorce instead of redemption.   foolishness no wonder the churches are so messed up

    True Story,
A call meeting was held to hire a new minister. The group interviewed many applicants including one woman. A vocal member of the group say "Over my dead body would there be a female minister in my Church." The Call group liked the woman applicant and hired her. The woman minister first task was to officiate on the vocal member's funeral.
    Have a Good Day.

immaterial as there is no scripture that says a real church is to have hirelings, in fact it says the opposite

The biblical view of submission is not mutually exclusive ... the Bible also says that husbands and wives are to submit to each other in Christ.  The scripture says that a wife is to submit to her husband as the church to Christ but before it says that it gives the instruction to the husband to love their wives as Christ loves the church.  Christ loved the church sacrificially and the church submitted to him because of that love.  A woman is not to be abused but loved.  A husband is not a disciplinarian to his wife but her spiritual authority in the home.  He should never use his biblical position in an abusive manner.

I am wondering where you get your information from. There are  still folks in the church who do not think women should be in leadership where men will be involved. And yes the bible does mandate that husbands and wives be submissive to one another. But that does not mean the woman should allow her self to be dominated, degraded, or be a doormat. I have never in my 31 years of being a Christian heard of mainline christian's promoting or practicing spanking the wife or disciplining her. If there is such a group, they are probably a cult of some kind or are seriously takeing the submission verses out of context. All being submissive is really talking about is allowing the husband to be the spiritual leader (not dictator) of the home and for the husband to allow his wife to be valued and offer her thoughts, ideas, etc. Loving your wife as Christ loves the church does not mean being an abusive, dictator, manipulating, punishing man. That is not the love of Christ. Good topic.

except for the 2nd sentence a good answer.   i have never yet though heard of a straight woman that is the wife of one husband.  Thank God there are still some that believe scripture and not the liberal church system
