it depends on what you mean by magnetic sand, iron filings are often called magnetic sand, however, as this is asked in the Paganism, HPs, I'm guesing this is more likely to do with charging lodestones with silver or gold filings/dust, to create money magnets? Put magnetic sand or money magnets into google, something will come up.
Of course, iron is also a powerful element in Paganism/Wicca, etc.
