   That is done by seeking God's righteousness.
   Yahshua said he was one with the Father. And this what he meant.
   
   Yahshua showed us how and it is required. So yes we can, but few do
   
   Although God is part of all of us. This is not what is meant be uniting with him. In the end, God has no part with liars, fornicators, murders etc.

   A man can. The bible say Man has fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23); the bible went further to say if any man be in Christ he is a new creation (2Con 5:17). Jesus said as many that have  received or will receive Gods word, He (Jesus) has given them the glory which he shared with the Father in the beginning. He went further to answer your question that he has made us one with the Father John 17: 1-26 (a prayer he made to God for you for me and all those that will believe). Glory to God.

   In the way, that we have to release all our illusions,
   that we were or are disconnected from THE DEVINE.
   
   Ask yourself: How could we even exist, if we were  in any way disconnected from THE DEVINE?

   Humans ... do not have to ... Return "anywhere" ... to Unite with God ... we are "with" God ... all the time ...
   
   God ... Is ... The Light of Earth and the Universe.
   Beyond Form ... and there is no Infinite Mind ... we have, what is His Granted ... a Nounal Definitive, to call Him by ...
   
   Muslims call Him ALLAH ... others only call Him differently ... !
   
   And there is no Infinite Mind ... or a Collective Human Wisdom ... God hath Granted each one of His Created Humans, Knowledge's Totality, an all Encompassing Wisdom ... In, His Infinite Wisdom called ... The human Mind !.
