What did Jesus the Christ mean when He said what He did at John 7:16 to 18?

    John 7:16-18 (King James Version)

16Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

17If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

18He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

I am not the author of these things, I am not the originator of what I am telling you. These are things originated by God. He is the author. We must know wether it is we who originate the ideas we try to disseminate, or if it is God who is the originator. If you speak, know wether or not it is you who are passing your ideas off or is it truly of a divine nature,

I was always more impressed by what he said in Matthew 6:5-18

Jesus is stating that the doctrine He is teaching, is not of His creation, but that of Father God, and that anyone who recognized the doctorine would also recognize that it was teachings from  The Prophets. Jesus goes on to say that he does not seek to glorify himself by introducing a new doctorine but seeks to add glory to His Father God.
