If he is inside us all, then he does everyday. However as to whether he would make himself be known is a different matter.

According to Scripture HE did show himself and PROMISES to do it again a 2nd time at the last trumpet. "ALL eyes will SEE Him...." So if your alive you will see Him too.

The best way to communicate with earthlings is to be an earthling. Jesus proved this before. Which is the most logical way, manner, form and approach that would suit you if say you wanted to talk to ants? Would you approach them as an elephant or an ant? Check out the hub below and let me know how you feel.

It depends on what you believe is God.
There are many religions, thinkings, concepts. and each one of them has their own sects

Majority of the Christians believe Jesus is the son of God. So that might answer your questions as answers before me have posted. I said majority because I know people that don't believe that God is man as mentioned in the Hebrew bible,  23:19.

In Islam, we believe in Jesus to be the prophet of God. We don't give God any humanistic characteristics because he is more powerful than humans and incomparable to anything in this world. We believe him to be self-sufficient and free from all things. He doesn't need us instead we need him. and compared to God, our thinking capacity and knowledge is very very limited.

Many people will take celebrities as God, their role models, influential people, people that have exhibited extraordinary powers.

So what ever floats your boat.

You are God.  Get used to it.

What is God anyways?  Some slave owner who owns you forever?  And will hurt you if you don't do what you're told?

God is a metaphor for the sum of reality.  Both the Bible and definitely the Qu'ran say so (God is One).  God is not a person, nor being so ask yourself the big questions about...

How big is the universe?  (we now see as far out as 120 billion light years).

Who would want to be God?  Why?

If there is such a thing, then God is everything, all at once, all of the time.  So you are God.  So is everything else.  Get over it and get on with your life and stop being superstitious.  God hasn't time for such trivial things as hanging out on main street but if God does, it's you.

    no
the just shall live by faith

if anyone were to see God, jesus or melchizedek or any other of his earthly forms that God has used frequently in the OT then our faith would be nullified.

Hebrews 11:4   By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain.
This is the first in a list from beginning to end in the BIBLE. Why did the writer not start at adam and eve? Because adam and eve walked with God and when ya walk with God no faith is needed because you have physical evidence which eliminates faiths ability to work.

Thanks everyone for your very heartfelt and interesting answers! I appreciate it so much, as this can be a somewhat personal question. I applaud your bravery for even venturing to comment!
Also, I invite more thoughts on the subject.

Btw: Whoever is voting answers down: is that really necessary?

Every human on the planet is God incarnated.  Look in the mirror and meet your God self if you have the courage to consider that possibility.

As I am an Indian, I grew up in a society where belief in incarnations is a very common thing. People do believe that sometimes to help his devotees, God comes down to earth in a human form. More information on this can be gathered by some source of Vedas (search Google for that). I have heard of incarnations of Lord Vishnu at several occasions. At times it is also telecasted on TV, some people with mythical &  magical powers of healing. In India, SAI BABA is considered an incarnation of God.
Feel free to ask again !

In looking at the other answers, I would have to say no.

He either came 2000 years ago (not modern times) or only as something that is in all humans, which seems a copout to the question to me.

In addition, He has never been seen here on earth in recent times.  So, no.

God, the Almighty, the Most High, the Creator decided to come, born of a virgin (because it is impossible for God to come through the seed of a man).
God came in Jesus Christ. God is sinless, and perfect, and all powerful. Jesus, being God was sinless, and perfect, and all powerful.
God loved you so much to come in human form (Jesus) and die for you on the cross.
It didn't end there. He rose from the dead.
It didn't even end there. He was taken to heaven.
And yet it didn't end there. He sent the Holy Spirit to those who would completely trust in Him and lay their lives into His hands. The Holy Spirit came to carry on where Jesus left off. And He (the Holy Spirit) is still on earth today, doing the works of Jesus.
But... it doesn't end there. Jesus will come back as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. People think the meek and lowly lamb will come. Nope. He is coming as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Are you ready?

Yes. God can be seen on earth every day, within anyone who is a kind, generous, genuinely good and beautiful human being. Every time you help a friend or stranger, go beyond for someone else, or just live with love and honesty, God is shining through you. We, at our best, are all representations of God on earth.

If you believe that God is a separate being, removed from earth somewhere very far away in the "heavens" then you are sorely mistaken.  God is everywhere. He is here on earth in everything and everyone - you just need to look a little bit beyond the surface to see it.

According to Hinduism, God appears in human form from time to time to protect the righteous, punish the wicked and to establish "dharma" - righteousness to suit each time period. God coming down in human form is avatar.

We have a constant stream of avatars in India from time immemorial. Great religious masters who are considered avatars in the recent time:

    - Sri Ramakrishna paramahamsa (not alive now)
    - Sri Ramana Maharshi (not alive now)
    - Sri Satya Saibaba (alive now)
    - Mata Amitanandamayi (alive now)

On Mata Amirtanandamayi I have this following FAQ hub:

There is no such thing as god sweety, God is created by men to control and organize men and to control and rule other men.

Even if god existed and he was as great as they say, he/she wouldn't possibly so needy of obedience  of human beings.

if there was a God and he was as great as they say in the bible and Quran and all the other books than:

    - it would mean he created everything the past present and future,

    - it would mean he created what a person does and how his life unfolds

    - it would mean all the books are lies because god wouldn't/shouldn't and couldn't punish people for so called sins because he created them

anyway i will stop its getting too long smile

Yes. The Soul is impersonal but needs to manifest in and through the personal. The formless needs the form in order to express God's Glory. Light must descend into darkness, for by so doing, Light transform and illumines darkness. There is no other way.
That is why the Spiritual Master comes and appears to do what we do. He eats, sleep, etc. Otherwise, we will see a yawning gulf between His life of spirituality and our own life. Man is God in the finite form of His existence, and God is man in the infinite form of His existence.
