Man in the Moon?
Obviously there are myths and symbolism relating to the Moon and feminism. But is there more to the 'man in the Moon'? Or is it just because the Moon at times seems to have a face? This really fascinates me and any answers are warmly welcomed.
Perhaps this is more to do with the Moon in the Man. With the effect the Moon has over the waters of the Earth and as humans contain 80% water, the Moon must play a significant role in our everyday lives.
Its just a shadow and something parents tell their kids when they are younger.
There is an enormous amount of folklore and myth about the Moon, of which the "man in the moon" tale is just a tiny, tiny part. Although many people believe that the Moon is almost always a Goddess or feminine in mythology, there are approximately as many cultures in which the moon is associated with a God.
In the case of a male Moon, he is often seen in stories as the secret lover of women who comes to them in the night.
