That's a good question. People always tell me that I'm spiritual, and I am thoughtful and interested in all religions, but do not belong to a specific one. Some people do seem put off by the "I'm spiritual but not religious" comment in my experience.
Religious bigotry will not accept someone who is spiritual but is not inclined to be religious. The fact is that religion will have value only if it incorporates spirituality but spirituality doesn't need the leg of any religion to stand.
