What does "atheist" mean to you?
Do you understand atheism to be the active belief that there is no god? Do you take it to mean the active rejection of all gods? Do you simply take it to mean the lack of belief in any god just like a baby or a dog has? Do you think it means all of the above? What makes the most sense to you? Which requires the least explanation?
I think that the term atheist means this:
They do not believe in a divine being(s). They only believe in what they can feel, see, touch, etc.
Greek for a = without teo = God. There is no God, I have no proofs and so on.
Buses Promote Atheism
“There’s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.” This slogan has been displayed on 200 buses in London, England; on another 600 countrywide; and on two giant screens in London’s Oxford Street, reports The Guardian newspaper. The originators say that their campaign is in response to religious advertising that condemns nonbelievers to hellfire. The word “probably” is used in order to meet the rules of Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority, since it is impossible to prove that God does not exist. One objective of the campaign is to encourage more atheists to “come out,” to reveal their views.
It means no belief in G/gods - not an active disbelief that there is/are no G/gods. One requires nothing but a lack of belief. The other requires an active assertion that there is nothing. To actively assert that there is nothing, one must be able to prove that there is nothing.
someone who '' Believes '' on '' No Belief ''. and dares to say it out loud...
there is no a very restrictive faith trends to me. I only open my heart to one trend if I want to believe it. certainly, it is only a slight appreciation.
To me, an atheist simply doesn't believe in spirituality or a higher power or creator (God). Yet atheist tend to believe in more super natural things than believers of God, so to me, there is no such thing as an atheist. Everyone believes in something they have never seen.
To avoid that "believe" word which is often twisted by theists to prove that we "believe" in something: An atheist is someone who has thought things through, concluded that there is no god now or ever, and accepted that fact.
to me it just means that i don't believe in a god of any kind. no higher power, no satan and no lord. i believe in myself and other humans.
I consider myself an atheist and for me it is just a way to say that I myself do not believe in God. There are many things in which I do believe like Love, Life and the Future. On the other hand I accept people how believe in God and let them be themselves, as long as they return the favor.

I wrote a hub on how faith is not required in order to be an atheist. Someone requested that I turn it into a forum thread as well. My position is that atheism, by definition, is the lack of a belief in a god. Therefore, faith is not required. The common dismissive quote is...
