Why does a man want to be remembered after his death?
Since, one will not be physically there to savour it.
My father is a good man and he is not in the best of health and has told us many times that he wants to be remembered as a man of honor and respect for his family, friends and the community. I think the reason why man wants to be remembered after his death so the ones left behind have closure on his life on earth.
We are given our time here to make a mark. A mark not for the betterment of ourselves but for our kind. A shallow man wants to be remembered for his own accomplishments, his riches, and his possessions.
Then there are men and women that want to be remembered for their talents, the love they shared, the meaning they left behind, and the light that they shown for others. Those people are the ones that inspire the rest of us to desire something more than the temporary entrapments offered by the others. Both these men leave their marks. One fades away extremely quickly while the other turns into an inspiring story that is passed on.
Then there is the person who lives a life and doesn't realize that they have not left any mark until it is too late and are depressed by the knowledge that they have lived among many and left nothing of meaning to be remembered by. They feel like it was a waste.
just as the world itself is governed by rules and laws laid down memory lane by great men that have died long ago, so it is with all men who are currently living. it is more of an instinct than a conscious action, because everyone want to be remember for good, hence the reason for marriage.
Man wants his accomplishment of goodness remembered and passed on, but not necessarily himself.
mmmm...some want to be part of human history...some wants to live a lasting legacy..cos man is superficial..do this doesn't matter in the end...i think your question should be..why man wants to leave a lasting legacy..so that they can inspire people to be just like them..and be admire for their contribution to this world!!
To know that he has meant something to someone. To know hat his life has mattered, and that he has been an influence, that he has made a contribution to the human family.
It is also, what he wants, whiles he lives.

As a person raised to believe in the message that has been preached for years about God and Jesus, and what they can do, and how merciful they are, I have never been able to understand why people continue to pray to God, when He doesn't prevent something He could have, clearly, prevented,...
