No, I don't believe this year will be the last of Earth. I don't believe in catastrophic announcements like many other made before.

No. The earth has existed..it will exist..the inhabitants may change but it will remain..The year 2012, yes we will see lots of changes but we won't vanish as a civilization.. That is only my opinion..

I believe that civilizations have disappered before.

Before the Aztecs and the Mayans were the Olmecs. There may be more but because South America is wet and green any evidence is buried or destroyed versus the Middle East artifacts that are perserved in a hot dry environment.

Weather does affect economic growth. For example, witchhunts was a form of scapegoating for the bad times of the little ice age during the dark ages.

We are supposed to be in a little ice age again right now but the Mayans didn't forecast global warming from autos.

    Absolutley Not!
However I suspect there are many people who would like to see the world to end in their life time. Every now and then someone predicts a planet that has been around for billions of years is going to be destroyed. I wonder if it would change the way we live if there was a way to find out that "the end" was going to be in the year 5000. My guess is there are lots of people who follow reglious teachings out of fear of the world coming to an end and not out of love for God and mankind.

Yes..originally it was planned that 2012 will be the last year of the world... But due to some technical error, it has been postponed to the year 3012.  Due to the technical error, you can live happily..

I think that if people would make some little research on their own and looking what the whole hype of "The End Of The World = 2012" actually is...
well a lot of people would then understand on their own that nobody predicted the end of the world as depicted in the mass-media and sold to be that way.
The real discussion is about a shift of consciousness that has already happened/started a long time ago but might in our perception of time, reach a kind of peak worldwide this year but is still an ongoing process, not something that slaps you right in your face, tomorrow when you'll wake up. It's a change of our world, of the people becoming more aware what the reality around them really is and what/who they really are except of being a "925 Daily Worker or Employee"
When somebody comes along and wants you to feel fear about the future by means of predictions or else, then you can be pretty sure that this is designed that way, just to keep you out of your own power and your ability to focus on something more than just a survival mode.
Forget that version of "End Of The World by 2012"! And "If", then the world ends only in terms of becoming different from what we know it now to be. And you don't need to be a "Prophet" to recognize this ongoing process of change, you can see it everyday if you pay attention. You just need to think by yourself, feel by yourself, have a healthy attitude of questioning things that are presented to you on a daily basis,  trust your senses, open your eyes and look around without telling yourself fairy tales about what you're looking at, period! Recognize things as what they are, even if they might appear kind of a bit unbelievable in comparison of what you've been taught to believe.
Believes are very powerful when it comes to express your own potential to create. But when used against you without you noticing that ... you're pretty screwed.

I think that 2012 will be the last year for some but not civilization as a whole.  The world will continue no matter what the Mayans or some quack scientist thinks.  It amazes me how much stock people put into believing predictions.  The only prediction I believe in is that we will all die some day but I doubt we will all die at the same time.

Personally, I have no idea when the end of the world will happen, or if there ever will be an end of the world.

About the only thing I know is that I do NOT know anything.

No I don't think the world will end in 2012.  God's got every thing under control.  It will end for some people because we all have to die some day.

No, especially since most of the yammering about 2012 being the end of the world is based on a complete misunderstanding of the Mayan calendar.

No I don't. All of the bible prophecies have not come to pass yet. The bible says no man will know the year, day or hour when Christ will return and it will be like a thief in the night.

I am deep into this issue and I do not believe that it will be the last year....exactly. It is obvious that the weather is at record breaking highs in storms, tornadoes, earthquakes, (+concurrency) tsunamis, hurricanes and well as galactic activities. The sun is flaring and over heating at times and we are feeling that effect. The sun is preparing for what we should be prepared for. Don't be alarmed, we obviously made it before hence the survival of mankind & wildlife. The Mayans don't say that the world is going to end. They say " The world as we know it will come to an end. " And that means that it will change. There is proof now that it happened before and there is ways we can survive.

I believe it will be the end of the world as we know it. The end of our continual raping of the environment, each other, the end of our closed eyes. There will be a massive financial crash and we will all revolt, get back to what's really important.
