Guys she attends a non-denominational full gospel church. Look it up the pastor, minister or whatever you want to call him does not have to have a seminary degree so there is no telling what is being taught in this church.
The fact that she goes to church is an atrocity, in and of, itself.
Which leads one to believe that she would rather be submissive and guided.
Which is detrimental to her over well being. Regardless of whether or not, she can it see.
Believing in "GOD", "GOD-Kings", Messiahs, or any other deity, defeat the purpose of our own consciousness.
Therefore, it goes against Life.
I'm not saying it to defend her more the point of there are many out there that are guided by various differing sects of religion and you have to understand and have tolerance for those who do not believe as you do.
I did an about face after my ordeal and left the church and my church family completely. With that said, I did search out other denominations and non-denominations and umbrella denominations and came to much the same conclusion Cagsil that Life is what matters and we have to look to ourselves not something up in the heavens which no one really knows where that is as none of the space shuttles have run through heaven or bumped into an entity out in space.
As one who has found it extremely difficult to find others who understand and don't make fun of my beliefs, I don't think that saying a mock prayer for believers is the answer. It leads to the less than believable quality of what you are trying to say.
I agree with Prometheus that she is not helping the cause she so firmly believes in but then little of what a brainwashed person can be taken for truth.
Again, she believes what she does as we all do. Let it go and move on to another topic or continue this one in vain. She is steadfast in her diatribe and will not sway from it. She couldn't find a way to make me a believer because of the honesty with which I posted my sentiments on here and thus she overlooked them. A true Christian would have said hey sorry that is what caused you to walk away let me see if I can find you some real help in understanding this and get you back to the fold but she doesn't have that capability. Her life afterall is not her own in the end.
Mine will be as will yours. Go forth and enjoy that life.
Nice post.
I thought some of it was funny.
I apologize for the mock prayer.
But, I was enacting my love for humankind. Because, that's the purpose I set forth my life, since "GOD" isn't guiding me.
I was a catholic for many years. I had my first communion. I went on to my Confirmation. I was also baptized catholic.
During my life, as I grew up, I knew there was something missing in my life? Answers to questions, which had escaped me for the longest time.
I integrated "religious" text into a workable compromise, but found it's goals are all unachieveable.
Upon that discovery, I developed a purpose to disspell all "religions", in general, as a hoax.
I do not claim to be a prophet.
I am not making any claim to be a GOD of any sort.
But, my research has concluded- that if "religion" isn't exposed for the fraud that is it.
It will eventually wipe out the human race, which is completely unacceptable.
If I offended you in some way, shape or form, then I'm sorry.
Not offended in the least bit by anything other than the mock prayer. Yes I have laughed over some of this entire thread as people don't seem to understand that what we are doing overseas with our military is exactly what you are talking about. We are killing in the name of Allah which to the Muslim equals God. We are destroying mankind over their belief system. It is truly a sad state when no one can see this but a few.
I figured you came with a healthy dose of religious background as many of us who no longer believe did. It is hard not to question the things that science brings forth as real and then believe just as strongly in the faith that there is some supreme being out there for us all looking out for us and guiding us. There are just too many contradictions in it all.
Keep doing what you are doing. Enjoy your life with your beliefs intact. Say what you have to say so that it is believable and don't stoop to others levels in that endeavor. Blessed be.
Hey lynn,
I want to tell you something? But, maybe it isn't the time or place to let others know about it?
I mean, I've spent most of my life, engrossed in looking for answers, and now that I have them.....I feel a driving force, pushing me toward conflict, which I've always avoided.
I am not a violent person. I am 40 years old and been in two fights, my entire life. Both, were in self-defense.
But, now I see "life", humankind, as something special, which we've been told we are not.
We, as Humans, answer to ourselves and no one else.
That being the case- religious/spiritual control needs to end. It's influence and heavy handed tactics.
It is becoming seriously dangerous to society. The hoax needs to go away, so peace can be.
I know that sounds strange, because we are taught, that without spiritual guidance humans would be lost.
This is where it gets really odd.....Religion says, "humans answer to a god of some sort".
Yet, offer no proof of existence to back up claims and expect you to believe it as fact, based on faith.
This notion bewilders the human consciousness to suffer, because it's burdening humans into believing there is only one purpose for life and you are expected to bend to the word of a "god".
The human consciousness never sleeps. It continues running, never shutting down, even when you are physically asleep.
Your essence as a human being, meaning spirit and soul, the best words to associate with, is controlled by you and your actions.
Spirit: his competitive spirit is what drives him to improve.
Soul: he had a good soul, he helped lots of lost souls.
These are words which are manipulated with perfection, to control people.
My understanding comes research and that lead to finding the answers I was looking for, but what I happened upon was more than I could've ever figured.
So, the question is....what do I do? What is your opinion?
And, please don't tell me to write a hub about it. I've already started that. But, I do have others already written.
I'm not sure why you feel it is drawing you to a conflict or why that conflict might bring about violence but I'm not going tell you to write a hub about it either.
I have started the story of what I went through numerous times and haven't been able to write it out and its been five years. What you have found has led you to believe a new way and for you it sounds as if you want to shout it from the rooftops. I can't say whether that would be a good thing or a bad thing only that you have to weigh the consequences of your actions and time of delivery.
Many people are ready for a change in the spiritual/religious world but others will confront you if that is what this is about. You have to be prepared to back up what you have found and stand firm in it.
I am not sure what the best way to get your message out is other than writing about it. Maybe what you need to do is work it out more in book form. Again, I'm not sure. If you need me to look over something you have going by all means feel free to contact me via my email here at the site. This seems to be something you want to talk about but not in an open forum. Just let me know. I'll do what I can to help.
I agree with most of what you said. And, I thank you for your supportive assistance, should I need it.
But, when you confront a "religious" person, it appears that they are unwilling to confront their own belief. All arguments is from a defensive stand point.
You cannot argue or debate "religion" from an offensive stand point. Because, you cannot gain any ground by projecting unproven conjecture not based on fact, as a fact.
It is completely meaningless.
So, when confronting a "religious" person about their belief, they are automatically refuses listen, nevermind mind use common sense, their supposed "god" supposedly gave them?
Therefore, it proves "religion" defeats life.
Life being defined as, an individual who has human consciousness.
All other life-forms on Earth are guided by Nature. Humankind isn't part of that automatic guidance system anymore. Because, of their human consciousness.
All people did what substitute nature's guidance for religious guidance. Thus, never actually taking control of their own life.
Thus, defeating the overall purpose of Life, which is to think for oneself.
But, I digress. The forum, still can be a place where hints and minute statements can bend people's belief. Something can be said, that could astound them and break them free from their bonds.
Almost similiar to what Jesus Christ did when he was alive. He taught people to look inside oneself, for the authority to rule over oneself, through love and mercy.
Love: To always be honest with yourself and others. To love humankind, just as you were to a family member and perserve life. And, to answer to no false idols(religion).
Mercy: To understand, that those who do not know any better and why, so you can help them, for in return, your life will be eternal.
Even by talking like this. I am pretty sure, understanding will come.
According to the most recent American Religious Identification Survey (ARIS) 76.5% (159 million) of Americans identify themselves as Christian.
The Gallup poll for 2009 showed that only 39% of Americans believe in the theory of evolution (a significant percent who do believe it, also believe it was guided by an intelligent designer). Only 14% believe in the theory of natural selection.
These statistics are often responded to with statements such as "just because the majority of people do or don't believe in something doesn't mean it is true".
That's basically correct however, it does indicate gravitation toward a basic logic.
Sometime ago I remember reading that one of the major disagreements people have with there not having been an intelligent designer is because of evolution's "big bang" aspect that attempts to explain how life began by claiming an explosion of astronomical proportions caused a chain of events causing incredible, diverse and intricately designed living things to spring-foward from it. The resulting effect continued in an advancing direction for billions of years.
Of course using mathematical statistics, it is impossible for even the smallest of occurrences to take place, causing a functional life form, in fact it is astronomically impossible, let alone millions and millions of life forms and environments. This aspect of impossibility is avoided when you ask for an explanation by those who accept it as if to say "don't ask logical questions, just accept it!" Of course they claim this is what religious belief does however, religions based on Biblical-beliefs for example come from "what is revealed" and not "what is explained". In fact this is where faith comes in (remember this thread is about God).
This starting-place evolution calls the big bang, continued to advance things with an innumerable number of chance happenings that caused everything to fall perfectly into place. Not only did this process evolve living things but it also evolved their environments and atmosphere simultaneously!
Here's what Charlie Darwin had to say about it:
""Another source of conviction in the existence of God, connected with the reason and not with the feelings, impresses me as having much more weight. This follows from the extreme difficulty or rather impossibility of conceiving this immense and wonderful universe, including man with his capacity of looking far backwards and far into futurity, as the result of blind chance or necessity. When thus reflecting I feel compelled to look to a First Cause having an intelligent mind in some degree analogous to that of man; and I deserve to be called a Theist." (Written AFTER he published Origins of the Species).
Charlie himself was not an atheist. He also was not a Christian. He described him self as a believer in at least on deity but that he had not come to know who that deity is. This was his own description of his agnosticism.
Hey Jimlow,
That's the second time I've seen you post this exact same message.
You made your point, the first time. I would think?
Posting the exact same message isn't going to help any.
How being productive, instead of destructive?
Cag I understand what you are saying from the standpoint that it is a round robin pointless conversation to have with believers of one specific God that have been brainwashed into a belief that this God will save them and offer up eternal life.
It is much like the laboratory monkey experiment. They can be led and controlled by their captors but once released back into the wild what will become of them? There are a whole lot of people being led by differing factions that once released from that faction might not function on the same level that they do now.
Is that a good or bad thing? I don't know and am not the one to make the judgement call. I know what works for me and am happy that I don't stand in church on Sunday praising God. I can meditate in my garden or walk by a river and find all the peace and happiness I need without having religion shoved down my throat to make me believe there is someone other than myself responsible for my happiness or life.
Cagsil,
It's not on here twice but it was moved. Pretty nifty huh?
Thanks for the kind words Rick, I will browse your Hubs as well!
God Bless you too!

So I've been thinking a lot about this lately. I've been involved in a lot of discussions on the lack of any physical evidence to the existence of any god (no matter what the religion)and it is always countered with there is also no physical evidence that a god "does not" exist which is a...
by cooldad 7 years ago
What if this happened today. All the news networks, all the world leaders, all the scientists, all the leaders of churches announced that it was proven that God does not exist. Proven beyond any reasonable doubt whatsoever. What would you do? How would society and the world react?
by zzron 12 years ago
Atheists claim that God does not exist, show me the proof that backs up this claim.
by stanwshura 10 years ago
What if God does not exist? What if there is no God. What if he was the invention of humanity trying to control humanity. What if God is to people what Santa Claus is to kids - somebody not to piss off because you just wanna get your loot (or place in "Heaven") in the end.

Is it within its domain? The Creator-God is only attributive; all physical and/or spiritual things are His creation.
by James Q smith 15 years ago
Just a question, but it would seem if there really were no God, then Atheists couldn't exist. Is Atheism a religion? They definitely seem to be unified by a common belief.
