How do we prove the Bible is the true word of God and not another holy book?

Don't give the arguement that the Bible says it is the true word of God. Other holy books do the same.

We are not supposed to prove it to be true.  Believers in Christ are to be witnesses, not lawyers, for Christ.

1 Peter 3:15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect. (Nice Lawyer maybe?)

Nice verse, Sheepsquatch...I hate to ask, what does your name mean? Anyway, I just want to add that I agree, but that it is the Holy Spirit Who convicts. We are just commanded to share the gospel.

Sheepsquatch is a username in games that I use, because currently it isn't a popular name. Apparently there is also some legend of "white thing" in Virginia also but unrelated. Eventually I plan on writing my own Sheepsquatch legend hub.

You can't.  As you say, Just like other holy books, of any faith, it claims to be the word of God.  However, what is often forgotten is that all of these books were written by men who could make up a nice litle work of fiction and put in what they liked as long as it furthered the plot.

Our belief is what makes the bible true. We are not prove the bible as Christians but the word of God proves itself in us only if we belief.

As SirDent points out, "believers in Christ are to be witnesses."  Besides, it is Christ himself who proves the truth of the recorded words of God in the Bible. He proved it by rising from the dead and showing himself as now living--not only to many before his ascension to heaven. But he proves the truth of the Bible through his witness in our hearts and minds. To vast numbers he has also appeared to them in person. He is not dead, but is alive. Christ, himself, is his own proof.

No one can prove this.  We can only believe.

Proof, scientific or otherwise, negates the necessity of faith which is basic to Christianity. By faith  Christians believe the Bible is the true word of God. Yes, the scrolls and other findings of man point to the truth of the Bible but when one gets to the bottom line on the true word of God -- it's faith.
