What are the treasures that Christians store up in heaven?
Is say that we are to store up treasures in heaven, but what exactly are they?
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. - Matthew 6:20
The chapter opens telling us to practice our righteousnesses as the normal course of our lives w/out "parading" them in front of people to be noticed. Three examples of those deeds are giving to the poor, prayer, and fasting...all to be done to draw us closer to our Father, not to attract attention.
The "treasures" we store up are the results of these and other actions based on our "walking in the Spirit" as Galatians 5 discusses. Ray Boltz sums it up pretty well in his song, "Thank you." Here's the url from You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgCInn5dr4g
now here is a perfect example of how scriptures are totally superfluous to reality. And yet, die hards believe their scriptures verbatim.
Although the wealthy here on earth think they can take their riches with them when they go, in reality the only thing that our spirits can enjoy is love and peace and an existence without disharmony.
But i doubt even those traits are all inclusive.
If our spirits are reflective of anything from this material world, there will be discord on the other side as well.
There is no known perfection anywhere in the vast universe, except in the minds of the frightened, fearful and guilty humans.
