I have many favourites, I love the Old Testament Bible Stories.

But one that stands out in my mind which displays obedience and sacrifice is the story of Jephthah.

Never vow to God and differ to honour it.
In Judges 11, Jephthah made a vow and he honoured his vow by being obedient.  It touches my heart when I read this story but it teaches me in my bad situation do not take God for granted, asking Him to take me out of difficult situation and I will do etc.

He His God He sees our needs and when we ask anything of Him, if it is within His will He will bless us.

There are lessons for life in these stories and that's just one.

The one about Ruth. It's enough to make you want to go buy a threshing floor.

My favorite Old Testament Bible story is Genesis. It's a tall story.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Sounds like the earth is as large as the heaven, or at least on par. Ever heard a building contractor saying, "I built that skyscraper and that brick"?

Never thought of it like that! Hmm... this is some food for thought now.

"And on the 7th day, God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the 7th day from all his work which he had made."

I'm still waiting for Part 2 of Genesis. What happened AFTER he rested on the 7th day? Or is He still resting?

I love the story of Moses. I also love the story Ester...God used her in her role to save help save a nation. I love the move "One Night With The King" based on this story.
I admit I have more stories to read.

Never saw that movie, but agree that I've always liked Moses and Esther.
