Please resubmit your links so we can move on to the next order.

Sufi, what is the next on the list?  We need to decide time lines.  What do you think?

Next on the list is to decide a format. Sufi proposed a good website with a reasonable list.

If Gardner is happy with KJV, I suggest that we use Mark's link for the Bible and they can both resubmit two links each.

We still need the chairman and to make sure that we have a good panel of judges.

The Affirmative always goes first(that would be me)

Then the Negative gets to cross-examine and asks question to the affirmative

Then the Negative presents their case

Then the Affirmative get to  cross examine and ask the negative questions

The Affirmative does their rebuttal (no new arguments) just refutation

Then the Negative gives rebuttal (no new arguments)  and closing

      Then the Affirmative closes

      Then you guys vote.

I'm a former debate coach and speech judge. I am, however, a self-proclaimed Christian. On the other hand, I do believe in some form of evolution. I don't see them as mutually exclusive.

Can I nominate myself as a moderator type? NOT a judge. I have a degree in Philosophy and have been taught logic and how to argue properly. Aaand, I know a lot about religion. I can tell you if your arguments are actually valid (logically valid), or if they're flawed etc, things that should be disregarded/edited (like personal attacks or irrelevant info), whether questions have been answered.

Like I said, I'm not going to judge or comment on the content.

I'd also suggest that once the debate itself is finished each judge is allowed to ask each debator one question, in case they found any part of the debate unclear, or if they just have any questions that could sway their vote.

Can you separate the difference between religions and God? And you can honestly say you are unbiased?  I'm fine it, and I too like your suggestion.

      1. jenblacksheep profile image69
jenblacksheepposted 15 years agoin reply to this

I can be unbiased in an argument. It's something I've learnt. I'm not putting my views forward or arguing with either of you, just checking your arguments for flaws etc. I'm not gna play favourites and only pick on one of you.

Yes, I can seperate religion from God. I'm not great at seperating different types of Christianity, but I'm guessing that's not really what you mean. But I can look up anything I don't understand.

I seriously doubt that this debate will resolve the question of God’s existence.

However, I am looking forward to hearing two extreme points of view without having to endure off topic background noise from others that happen to believe that personal attacks really prove their point.

I don’t envy the judges who have taken on the huge task of declaring which is the better debater.

Who will win? Who will loose?  Most likely, the issues being debated will survive us all.  I have observed that debaters rarely change the opinions of other debaters. For debaters who have researched sound irrefutable facts to support their carefully constructed logical premises are not easily swayed.  As a result, the opinions most likely to be altered by the debate are not those of the participants but, rather, those of the observers.  It is often those who listen in silence with an open mind who leave the debate changed in some way. They observe the behavior of all of the participants. They listen to the dialog.  They judge the value of all of the content and the wisdom of each of the contributors.  In the end, only the observers “win”.

So many 'Doubters' here have seen no benefit to this gladiatorial face off.  Why? hmm

This is an organised cockfight, with no third party pecking.
So irrespective of your personal belief, opinion or feathers... Chill and let the roosters engage each other honourably and intelligently.
It is not about what YOU feel.. It is about the depth of debating substance of the two, who willingly agreed to provide eachother an opportunity to understand the fundamentals of THEIR BELIEFS.
My advice (which may not be welcome) is: "Listen and Learn!" rather than attacking a debate between two clever parties! hmm
