Sufi, what is the next on the list? We need to decide time lines. What do you think?
Next on the list is to decide a format. Sufi proposed a good website with a reasonable list.
If Gardner is happy with KJV, I suggest that we use Mark's link for the Bible and they can both resubmit two links each.
We still need the chairman and to make sure that we have a good panel of judges.
No idea if it makes any difference - I heard people arguing about it before so wanted to check with you.
I really don't care, but some of the newer bibles tend to paraphase for easy reading, If I had to vote NKJV,KJV NASB, but what will really mattter is context.

Anyway folks, time to watch Dexter, so I will be away for the next hour or so
Did you change your profile picture to praying hands so God will be with you in the debate?
If you lose, God doesn't exist. Are you sure you want to do this?
4. The length of the debate, in number of rounds.
Open for suggestions from the participants Mark and truth.
The Affirmative always goes first(that would be me)
Then the Negative gets to cross-examine and asks question to the affirmative
Then the Negative presents their case
Then the Affirmative get to cross examine and ask the negative questions
The Affirmative does their rebuttal (no new arguments) just refutation
Then the Negative gives rebuttal (no new arguments) and closing
Then the Affirmative closes
Then you guys vote.
I'm a former debate coach and speech judge. I am, however, a self-proclaimed Christian. On the other hand, I do believe in some form of evolution. I don't see them as mutually exclusive.
Can I nominate myself as a moderator type? NOT a judge. I have a degree in Philosophy and have been taught logic and how to argue properly. Aaand, I know a lot about religion. I can tell you if your arguments are actually valid (logically valid), or if they're flawed etc, things that should be disregarded/edited (like personal attacks or irrelevant info), whether questions have been answered.
Like I said, I'm not going to judge or comment on the content.
I'd also suggest that once the debate itself is finished each judge is allowed to ask each debator one question, in case they found any part of the debate unclear, or if they just have any questions that could sway their vote.
You are fine with me. As long as Gardner agrees - and I like your suggestion.
Can you separate the difference between religions and God? And you can honestly say you are unbiased? I'm fine it, and I too like your suggestion.
I can be unbiased in an argument. It's something I've learnt. I'm not putting my views forward or arguing with either of you, just checking your arguments for flaws etc. I'm not gna play favourites and only pick on one of you.
Yes, I can seperate religion from God. I'm not great at seperating different types of Christianity, but I'm guessing that's not really what you mean. But I can look up anything I don't understand.
any questions...any questions.. ok touch gloves and and come out fighting... ROUND 1.. Ding, Ding .....
I can be impartial, but I have no idea who Garner is? I'm not on the religion forums enough to know the "aliases". But I can look at both sides impartially.
It's Gardner, thetruthhurts2009 is my account.

I seriously doubt that this debate will resolve the question of God’s existence.
However, I am looking forward to hearing two extreme points of view without having to endure off topic background noise from others that happen to believe that personal attacks really prove their point.
I don’t envy the judges who have taken on the huge task of declaring which is the better debater.
Who will win? Who will loose? Most likely, the issues being debated will survive us all. I have observed that debaters rarely change the opinions of other debaters. For debaters who have researched sound irrefutable facts to support their carefully constructed logical premises are not easily swayed. As a result, the opinions most likely to be altered by the debate are not those of the participants but, rather, those of the observers. It is often those who listen in silence with an open mind who leave the debate changed in some way. They observe the behavior of all of the participants. They listen to the dialog. They judge the value of all of the content and the wisdom of each of the contributors. In the end, only the observers “win”.
A wise man indeed.
I have said on many occasions that I am not speaking to my opponents. These are open forums for all to see.
We like to call it "Inheriting the Windy."
As an agnostic I will be closely watching to....... wait a minute, Monday? Will it be over before Monday Night Football comes on?
When Mark loses he has to ask the HubPages administration to open up an Evolution forum category and all atheist are to end their attacks on religion threads in this Religion & Beliefs category or get banned for good.
I just joined a couple hours ago.Don`t know how I got here but it sounds like there is some warring and bickering going on by opposing sides.

So many 'Doubters' here have seen no benefit to this gladiatorial face off. Why?
This is an organised cockfight, with no third party pecking.
So irrespective of your personal belief, opinion or feathers... Chill and let the roosters engage each other honourably and intelligently.
It is not about what YOU feel.. It is about the depth of debating substance of the two, who willingly agreed to provide eachother an opportunity to understand the fundamentals of THEIR BELIEFS.
My advice (which may not be welcome) is: "Listen and Learn!" rather than attacking a debate between two clever parties!
Nope, I think agnoxious relates to pig farming.
Setting up a match between b52 bombers werewolves and Randy Godwins vampires would be a more entertaining fight to watch. its taken 250 some odd posts just to see what the topic and rules will be.
Topics and rules, now there's something different. Next thing, you'll tell me there are judges.
OH MY _____!!! (Fill in blank with favorite deity or swearword)
I was going to be one of the judges, but chose not to participate.
I shall be the judge of the judges to make sure they judge fairly.
And I shall be the judge of the judge judger's!
The English here is a little...ummm???...off?
On purpose?
And I shall be the judge of the judge of the judges.
And I shall be the judge of the judges judge.
Southern English, invented by my wife the judge, no less.
"Judge not, lest ye become a judge."
Actually, that last one should read: And I shall be the judge of the judges' judge. (plural possessive case)
I judge that I have been judged by a great judge who judged correctly in judgment of my judging.
Funny, Quietness! Sometimes it's hard to shake off the English teacher within me. lol.
I've just found and read the whole of this thread. Thanks to those who nominated/seconded me for the chair. I will have to respectfully decline on grounds of time, but if the seat is still vacant, I'd suggest Jenny, (except I haven't seen her for ages).
Prettydarkhorse - thanks for offering to wake me. You might have to shout louder next time
I'm expecting it to start in a new thread, unless both protagonists are already exhausted!

All of the so-called "evidences" for evolution theory are essentially "fluff" evidences that reveal NOTHING about the origins of life. To illustrate, let's say I falsely asserted that a particular woman had once been a boy during childhood. I then discovered and presented...

Science is secular / equitable in nature; it has nothing to do with the AtheistsIf some atheistic scientists support atheism that is their own extra-curricular activity; science has never made them their spokesperson.
