Christ Said, " All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth." What did He mean?
Jesus Christ said these words in Matthew 28: 18. So exactly what did He mean when He said, " All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth." So I am asking; authority (power) to do what?
Has was telling us He is God. All power means ALL POWER to any and everything that He wishes within His selt applied limitations.
In Genesis 1, God gave Adam (man) dominion over all the earth; over the works of thy hands (Psalm 8). In Genesis 3, man disobeyed God and the result was that the dominionn was transferred over to Satan. In Luke 4:6, Satan tempted Jesus and showed him the kingdoms of the world and said, "All this power will I give thee..." if He would worship him. Jesus said, "Get thee behind me Satan..."
When Jesus died, He descended into hell and stripped Satan of his power, thus regaining all power and control in heaven and on earth.
Jesus Christ has authority over everyone, everwhere, and everything. He will be with His followers, and by His power make disciples of the nations. The power that He gives us through Him is immeasuarably greater than the things of this earth. He can change a man's heart and make him into a new creation. It is the power that shatters the darkness. It is the working power of the Good News that invites those to enter into His kingdom.
This means authority (power) to manage heaven and earth without restriction. With this comes supreme responsibility to support those who faithfully follow the path to the Kingdom of Heaven. The path is fully outlined in the Bible by statements of Jesus and through translations from disciples who convey the word of God.
I think gentleness and Grace is what He was talkin bout. It reminds me of the charge He gave his direct minions. "whatever you forgive is forgotten, whatever your retain shall be known". And yet those dirty dawg disciples retained nothin. They just went out there and rejoiced and healed and loved.
"Authority" is so cool when it is not exercised. I have searched and found no man left behind by the disciples. Christ was so bitching cool. Mano o mano He had it all but kept His cards close to the vest. He just sucked it up and did the God thing for us.
He don't need no stinking badge, He is just badass, through love. Hell yes He had full authority and does to this day. He is my kingdom and my ruler. Ain't nobody gonna whoop up on me and tell me different.
So I think this is just a gentle reminder about who is boss. I like it.
Eric- I have to admit I never seen one express their answer with such words you generally don't find on a christian related question. But I do realize your sincerety. I am not uses to it. I wish to avoid words like bitching and badass. Thanks Eric.
Authority and power over all things. By faith I think it means and I think Jesus shares that power and authority with us. By His stripes we are saved and by His stripes we are healed. If we accept His salvation then why not accept his healing? He paid the price and it is ours.
Sorry...typo...correction....by His blood we are saved and by His stripes we are healed.

Are Christians only purpose here on Earth to convert others to their religion?I was conversing on another's Questions and on of the responses was that the bible and christian's only purpose was to convert. I do not see where that says that in the Bible. Is this true?

For the very many years I was in Church attendance, the Kingdom of God was always equated with Heaven. It was a future event that only those who believed in Jesus would see either when they died or were raptured, whilst the remainder of humanity would go to hell. A Christian could be disqualified...

As a Christian, is there a difference between a testimony of Christ and conversion? To me a testimony of Jesus Christ is a belief that Christ is the son of God, but conversion or being converted means that you have not only been baptized by one having the authority to baptize, but that you have...

Since I´m not very familiar with the folklore, and there seem to be quite a few ¨experts¨ here, I thought I´d ask.According to the storyline, Lucifer was the ¨highest of the high¨ or something to that effect. So, I guess that at some point, Lucifer must have had a higher ranking than Jesus. Yet,...
