If there is only one God, why are there so many religions?
If God is a universal but unknowable energy form which manifests as a human from time to time then the human form of this God-energy is going to take on the cultural norms geographically, in whatever time span they are born, and interpret, preach, express religiousness in many different ways.
Why we have to fight and kill over these differences is beyond me, because the underlying God-energy is unknowable, mysterious, based on faith.
It is a little ironic that there once was a multitude of different Gods. Then there was just one God, now we have one God with multiple religions. There are far too many people who use God as an excuse to do so much evil.
the bible is clear it is because of the evil nature of the human heart. the cause is carnal christians that prefer envy, strife and division instead of a compelling desire for the truth at any costs..
Yes there is only one God. The reason that there are different religions is based on chronology. They were all for different time in history. With the passage of time, certain things in them were changed by men and now they all appear different. The major divine religions Judaism, Christianity and Islam preach about the same God. The differences arise due to mixing up of things.
I agree, over time things change. Some people like traditional, others like modern, which could be a reason for some to break away from the traditional. If God appeared on Earth today, do you think we would go back to one religion?
not true at all. as scripture tells us "there is nothing new under the sun"
check my new hub" are you a carnal christian or a Spiritual Christian?" if you want the scriptural truth on this question.
There are so many religions because everyone wants to make their God supportive of their agenda, and no one is willing to admit they're wrong.
Ok, so are you telling me that religion is based on personal opinion and manipulation to suit, rather than on the will of God?
Yes for the most part that is what I'm saying.
yes that is what she said and she is completely scripturally accurate
I don't think anyone knows if there is only one God or many. Maybe one day we'll all find this out. If one follows the traditional 'Christian' Bible with 66 books, they will see that there are actually 'many' gods. The Christian God never denied the existence of other gods. He just said that He was the one to be worshiped and the others denied.
Though I believe in an 'almighty' and 'supreme' God, many Christians will probably criticize me for saying what I did in the first paragraph. But, I have read my Bible many times over in my 45 years. Each time I read it, I discover new things... especially since I have been cleansing myself of much brainwash and learning how to be a critical thinker.
As far as 'many religions,' it seems that this has come about due to the 'interpretation' of religious manuscripts. The sad thing is that many have died throughout the centuries because of disagreements. If one believes in God, they will believe He is love. He would hate to see us fighting, hating, and killing over silly things. Instead, we should live in love. In the end, that's all that matters.
You do not have to believe in God to know that fighting, hating and killing over anything, is wrong. Life is so much calmer, happier and enjoyable when we have love.
Because there is only one God, there are many religions.
Since the slightest bit of variation of the truth will undoubtedly result in the creation of a lie.
Though that created lie is become because of the Truth, its origin and foundation belongs only to itself. Meaning it may distract/mimic Truth, but cannot alter it, For the Truth will remain separate and effective despite and without that lie.
So we see every religion is merely a variation of The reality of that one God.
With each variation having its identity within itself, thus and by that they are known as a religion.
Though that/any religion, will mimic and distract from God, it is impossible for them to thwart the way and purpose which God is determined.
I think there are so many religions because people interpret the bible differently. Although there is only One God, people understand or interpret the bible in different ways thus creating so many religions. Even pagans believe there is a God called Kabunyan who they worship as God.
I believe it's because each different religion thinks that their version of belief is the "right" version and not everyone is going to agree, of course, so then those that do not or can not agree proceed to form their own version. Basically and sadly, it's mostly just about being the "right" version and not about God at all, eventually.
Because people create religion following a person or a groups' spiritual experience.
Yes I agree there are many religions in this world. But would it not makes since that God is preparing a body of people for Christ's coming? Because when Jesus first came in to the earth a body was needed to be prepare for him to finish the work. Would it not also make since that before his second coming he also needs a body that reflect his character and prepare the way for his coming? So with that said...would it not make since that one of these billions of religion around this world is an ordained a particular message to prepare a body of people for Christ's second coming. In Revealation 14:12 it reads "Here are the saints that keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. What is the faith of jesus? Revelation 19:10 it reads " And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant , and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. So with that being said, do you not believe that God has ordained a particular church or religion with this spirit of prophecy? Do not believe that God has ordained this particular church with a particular message that can prepare a body of people for the second coming of Christ? Do you not believe that there is a Remnant Church that God has appointed to spread this particular message among all these religions? WAKE UP WORLD! It is the Seventh Day Adventist church that is given this particular message which is the Third Angel's Message in Revelation. Don't take my word for it, pray and fast about it. God will lead you. God bless.
If you look at the history of religion you will see that the founders of the religion did not want to create a new religion. It was their followers who organized it into a religion.
The world teachers all came to give a message to guide humanity towards its next step in evolution. Each message was relevant to the time and place it was given and was meant for many hundreds of years. It is also apparent that each teacher came to rectify the fallacies developed over time of the previous message and pointed humanity to another direction or tried to bring it back on track.
The Unmanifest is One, but its manifestations are infinite. Each section of humanity resonates to a different tune hence the need for different approaches to the same goal.
This is what I have understood in my studies of Theosophy and Art History.

We often think of the parable of the talents as a lesson in utilizing your gifts, and doing best with what you are given. (Matthew 25:14-30)What I would like to present is the relationship between different churches in regard to this parable. With so many people born into so many churches, what...
