Which one do you fear: the idea that there is no heaven or the idea that there is heaven?

I don't "fear" either idea. I once believed in heaven but upon examination of the facts found that there's no objective evidence that it actually exists, along with its counterpart hell. The idea of heaven and hell is present in more religions than just Christianity.

Many people believe in heaven, mostly due to their upbringing. For some this is a personal choice and can help people cope with the difficulties of life. This is fine and dandy, until the point where a person's religious belief is imposed on others.

The idea that there is a hell. With or without a heaven, I can manage.

I think the concept of eternity is the thing I fear. As humans, we really struggle with the concept of time beyond a few millennia. We can't even really begin to understand what eternity is. So the idea that someone might be in heaven for eternity is kind of horrifying. Sure, it's described as eternal bliss, but even that seems like it has its limits. Without a heaven, death is eternal sleep; basically what we were before we were born. Since I have no memory of the billions of years I didn't exist, I feel like that is the best way to end it as well.

    Neither.

Fear is a negative attitude or feeling of those who are self-concerned.

Self-concern is a state that one needs to remove before they can experience the Heaven that already exists within them.
