Jesus says "these things will follow those that believe and are baptized"; Were are "these things?
Jesus said the following Mark 16:15-18 "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
These things don't follow the vast majority professing Christianity , does that means they are not believers?
No, it just means they aren't walking in the fullness of their authority in the name of Jesus Christ. They may not have been taught that they have that authority because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
gee . do none of them have bible and the ability to read?
Jesus didnt say "if they are taught". He said THESE SIGNS WILL FOLLOW. are they not responsible to know what professing Christianity obigates them to?
1stly Christianity is not an obligation, it's a relationship based upon grace. Let me flip the question, when last did you cast out a demon, heal a sick person or raise someone from the dead. Jesus always taught so they had faith to receive.
Not a good yard stick for believers, the referenced scripture may have been added. There where times that even Jesus couldn't or wouldn't heal, I don't question His faith. No one does this or it would be all over the news with thousands gathering.
We STUDY for we have our "TEACHER" (Jn 14:26;16:13; add/delete too) "if" we "WAITED" (Acts 1:4)! JESUS "could" heal but "UNBELIEF" prevented (Matt 13:58)! It should be "on the news," but not "newsworthy" to man - "I've witnessed personally!"
celafoe- There is a verse found in the book of John that if understood in it's correct context would support your statement and question. It's found in John 14:12-13 (NKJV) which states: 12 Most aasuredly, I say to you, he who believe in me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.13 An whatever you ask in my name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in His Son.
Note, Jesus said in verse 12..... he who believes in me........ This means anyone who believes in Jesus Christ can do great works. This inclues healing and is NOT time limited.
God bless
KingdomCome
I like this verse, the use of words like believe, will do, I will do, all allow for growth on our part. We come to believe just like the chosen disciples. Some are further along with the coming. The "will do" allows for growth in faith.
Need I remind ALL, 1 MUST do as Scripture tells us to be "IN CHRIST"
to accomplish "these thgs!" That's why there are so many POWERLESS RELIGIONS becuz Religion (Satan) has deceived MOST on how to be "IN CHRIST!"
Yeah. You ask "WHERE are " these things?! In every place and every room, whereever the childrew of God "Born of God "(John 1:12.134.) live, work, walk and reside;
through them lives and works same "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me..."(Luke4:18--) .
God , the Creator- YHWH doesn't have double standard for his children, neither different Spirit /anointing as he had before. It is the same framework " the name of Yeshua and faith in his name.....and faith which comes through Yeshua has given this man complete health..."(Acts 3:16). As there is a "giving" faith automatically follows a "receiving" faith. You might recall frequent recording in the NT" Your faith made you well !?"
It happens quickly and spontaneously ! laying hands. One of my first experiences in a home of a brother senior of me having need of healing, asking
" Lay hands on me, here..." Prior to that I have seen some cases where a person laying hands was also speaking at the same time. I thought to say something, only to be stopped by a " needy faith''- " I told you lay hands , not to speak."" Instantly as I touched him everyone present saw a miracle ;
'' another time, my bricklayer was feeling sick and wasn't planning to come back next day. I ask him if he can believe that he will be healed by morning and will be back... His answer , " why not'' was sufficient as I only touched his shoulder by saying , so, receive your healing. Next day he was talking about healing miracle, I didnt talk about... Thus time after time, we only obediently do as the Spirit leads, and "Those things, (signs) follow..." THEY FOLLOW! Glory be to the one who provides the anointing.
Hallelujah! Praise HIS "Holy Name!" I've also exp'd the POWER of the Holy Spirit healing thru me, one being anointed w/Holy Spirit by my obeying & laying hands on him, demons came out (this wk)! Not to mention "my healings!"
BELIEVE & REC
His Blood and the Name will never lose the power.
Amen! Thank you JESUS! Praise Your Holy Name!
Michael
"Thus time after time, we only obediently do as the Spirit leads,"
This is the bottom line, we are all different, yet the spirit that leads is constant. Your faith may allow the greater works in Christ. Your faith may build mine.
Thank you
Rich: It is BELIEVING on HIS WORD that increases "FAITH!" GOD uses "man" to remind us of what HE HAS SAID! U then, have to "become as a little child" STUDY, PRAYING & asking for REVELATION fm the Holy Spirit. "Search the Scriptures" (Acts 17:11)
Precisely, Rich Kelley as "the Spirit leads"; we do walk in the spirit, then suddenly we hear that small voice talking to us, we hear and without hesitation - act to the glory of the King. If we miss to obey, He doesn't come back till next time
"IF" there is a "next time!"
Remember: "TODAY" if you hear HIS voice, harden not your heart..." (Heb 3:15)!
LORD, have mercy!
IT SURE DOES and I’m glad someone finally “SEES!” Let me show you how GOD (aka JESUS, aka Holy Spirit) works! I have been writing a HUB, telling all about the “authority” (POWER) GOD has given us, and Charlie asked this question. Do you notice the ones who responded to this question? GOD is gathering HIS “Army!”
JESUS’ definition of “Believing” differs from “man’s” definition. Men think if they “Believe” tradition(s), what they’ve been “taught” in schools or seminaries, or there is a “Supreme Being,” they “Believe!” However, JESUS’ definition of BELIEVING is one who has STUDIED (IN THE SPIRIT) and REVELATION has been given to “rightly divide” (II Timothy 2:15) HIS WORD via the POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT! “Rightly dividing” does not mean “you” read and interpret what “you think” it means, rather STUDYING IN THE SPIRIT, praying and asking the HOLY SPIRIT (aka JESUS) REVEAL it unto you!
GOD is TIRED of ALL of these “POWERLESS RELIGIONS” who “serve” HIM through “man-made” interpretation(s) of HIS WORD (II Kings 17:29-41)! HE is even moreso TIRED of people “Believing” Satan has DECEIVED “TRUE WORSHIPERS” (John 4:23-24), “MOCKING,” saying they are “possessed” by a “demonic spirit” (Acts 2:13) because we do as JESUS said we would do in Mark! However, HE did say in Isaiah 5:20 {paraphrasing} that men would think “right is wrong and wrong is right!”
Unbelieving Hubbers continue to ask “Prove there is a GOD” which should NEVER be a question since we should have “infallible proof” by demonstrating the signs given in Mark!
The Holy Spirit asked me to ask “Unbelievers” to provide a book with as many “accurate” prophecies written BEFORE the Bible and to this date NO ONE has been able to provide! Do you see how the Holy Spirit works? There is NO WAY Verse 18 in Mark 16 LIED or ANY of HIS WORD for that matter!!!
IF one would “WAIT” (Acts 1:4) for the POWER (Acts 1:8) we could provide “infallible proof” that we are “TRUE WORSHIPERS” or “BELIEVERS;” otherwise, Scripture has LIED or “we” have LIED and are NOT “TRUE WORSHIPERS” or “BELIEVERS!” Amen.
LORD I “THANK YOU!”
It could be talking metaphorically, but the Catholic Church did end up taking up new tongues (spreading from culture to culture), casting out demons (practicing exorcisms), taking up serpents - banishing snakes from Ireland or a metaphor for believers facing danger, drinking poison without being harmed - many Christians were killed by Romans but Christianity survived and flourished despite its persecution, they will lay hands on the sick - every hospital that exists nowadays almost is named after a Saint, the Catholics spend a lot of time and money on helping sick people, especially those too poor to pay for their own treatments, and monks and nuns did this even before modern medicine or state-sponsored healthcare even existed.
Do they believe in the Holy Spirit "leading & guiding," the New Cov (Grace & Truth), baptizing as the disciples did AFTER NC, The Gospel of Christ (Gal 1:6-9), ONE SPIRIT (I Cor 12) or do they believe there are 3 "Trinity?"
Can't get ANY "tw

Why does it seem most Christians are immature. It seems most people professing to be Christian do not have a proper grounding in the scriptures. They drink the milk but do not seem to be able ( or maybe no desire?) to eat the real meat- understand the deeper things of God, in spite of the fact...

What is the best way to explain the existence of God to an atheist?I've heard people try to convince atheists that there is a God by quoting the Bible or some other holy book. But quoting from such materials won't work. You have to believe in them before you can accept them as plausible...

It's easy to deconvert to atheism because they are disappointed, hurt or because they have lost their faith due to God making sense. It's harder to suddenly make a rational atheists convert to Christianity, which is faith-based. How does it happen?

Two Christians, both led by the Holy Spirit in understanding. Differ on meanings of the Bible. Who?I stopped trying to determine just who is led by the Holy Spirit. I take folks at their word. But they differ. The 4 Gospels differ per perspective. Isn't this just clear as a bell that God works...

I have heard Christians say, "I serve Jesus but I am not 100% sure He is the son of God..."Is this acceptable? How can one be grateful what Jesus did for us not even knowing for sure He did it?? Isn't this a case of, "I will be a Christian just in case there is a God and so I don't...
