What is that one strong reason which makes you believe that God exists?
Commonsense. The proof of our own senses. Self evident truths.
Because life is neither fair nor just and in order to have peace of mind I need to believe that evil is eventually punished.
I answered that question not so long ago, but I believe that it was framed differently. Experience. There is nothing greater than inner experience. St. Paul told us that he died daily, but if we do not have the capacity to go beyond death and return again in one short space of 5 or 10 minutes, then we won't understand what he meant.
It is only when we enter the water, that swimming becomes meaningful. Before this, it is only a dream of ours, or a tale told by someone else. Of course Faith is necessary, and is also an awesome thing, but true wisdom comes from inner experience. Much Love.
And the Fruit of Inner Experience can be greater Love.
One expression of Love can be labelled as God. The perception of what it means to love varies with the eye of any individual person: therefore also the perception of God.
Yes, yes... frankly the inner experience can be so vast, that the eyes weep, not for oneself, but for all humanity. This is the true nature of Love ... to reach out to all sentient and non-sentient life. It is also why the God-men come here, Alan.

Why do so many people believe that God doesn't love them when he sent his only son to save them?

The following post is in response to a statement made by another hubber and the many posts I've read using logical fallacies:"the burden of proof" is NOT on the believers. There is no burden to prove He exists because it is by FAITH that we believe. It is by faith we called on to believe....

Does atheism means I don't believe the existence of God or I hate God for who He is?
