From a scientific point of view, soul and afterlife is to do with the energy been used within the human body.
To better understand it, we must first know the biological fact, the human brain and nerve system run on electricity, just like any household appliance. The amount of electric energy been used in ur brain and nerve is there starting from the day u are born and remain there till u die, it would neither increase nor decrease. however, according to physic, energy can't be create or destroy, but can only transform from one form to another. Thus, the energy within our body, come from external and would remain there till we die and release back into nature, until it eventually enter another host. What human mythology refer to as soul/ghost/spirit/even gods, are these energies, it can be theorist, some ancient culture might have a higher level of scientific understanding on the topic, as we know many ancient civilization was destroy around 10000 years ago, due to the end of ice age, with it, many knowledge is also lost.
So, is there an afterlife? From a scientific point of view, definitely, but science is more in favor of the Buddhist, Pagan and Hindu concept of karma and reincarnation afterlife and doesn't exactly favor the Christian view of the afterlife.
We take the very human concept of hell on earth. We look toward the heavens. Within our own minds we can shape the reality around us. Notice I did not say "within our own brain". We understand that no two snowflakes are exactly the same, and the same for grains of sand. How much more so the working of our minds? Science, including neurology, psychiatry and psychology and sociology cannot tell us why or what we believe. Perhaps to some extent what we think.
There are realms in which our minds travel that are not touchable yet by interactive human understanding. Most neurologists say we have at least 21 different senses than the 5 most are cognizant of.
To suggest that because we have no formed intelligent determination of the mind and soul existing outside of the body and beyond it's life would be of enormous egocentric falsity.
The third eye, the spirit guide, the Holy Spirit, even emotions travelling extrabody from one to another and love can not be known to a firm degree. Why in the heck would someone claim because they cannot sense life with their five senses that it does not exist. Sure you can understand an egg being fertilized by a sperm developing into a human with a brain. But explain where cognitive thought develops before even the lungs. And don't even be so naive to think it is simple electricity flowing between neurons. That just cannot explain creativity and love.
Sure the brain and the heart stop functioning but what happens to the mind that functioned before the impulse pathways were developed? The body is dead and you can poke it with a stick. But no one as of yet can say what happens to what is best called our individual yet connected spirit.
Afterlife is a choice that spirit makes.
According to my readings of true stories and based on the meaning of "afterlife" I find it to mean man's life-forces go into a waiting stage until it is time for reincarnating. My study of reincarnation causes the fulfilling of "reaping and sowing," AKA "karma," suggests each life-force will be "sowing" and/or reaping something sown in each incarnation. The following is how it works.
Earth is a conglomerate of living species consuming one another for the sustaining of their and their specie's existence, thus, every life-force must incarnate as every life-type on earth as many times as they ate and was eaten by others. That means we must incarnate billions of times as a specific microbe -- I'm considering them as the first specie in the chain of incarnating -- before migrating up the chain to other microbe types, plant types, insect types all the others up the chain until becoming man.
As man we get the exact same microbe viruses we had been to be killed by the man or kill the man. The same things happens exactly the same way with every life-type interacted with the life-force you are as man. [Remember "there is nothing new under the sun" Ecclesiastes 1:9.] As man everything we do to another man or other life-types has or was done to your life-force by another life-force following your timeline (sequence of incarnating from microbe through man into 'everlasting life') and was in the same body you are/were in when it happened or you do it to it in sowing or reaping. The reason is, we have to experience the emotions of everything you do and is done to you in order to be revenged by the actions in knowing both sides of experiences [vengeance is mine said the lord].
According to the foregoing, the afterlife is the process of reaping and/or sowing everything done in any lifetime and life-type.

Are you born with your soul looking the way you do when you die?Or, when you die old do you grow young in the afterlife, and die young you grow old? Is there an age limit after death?

There is no afterlife, I believe that when we die that is it, and to be honest we are all in the same boat, so it doesn't bother me at all. The easter bunny would be a much more credible idea than a 'soul' floating up to an eternal world where everything is perfect forever. Is the thought that there...

Do you believe that the afterlife is real or do you contend that the afterlife is a fantasticalpipedream used as an excuse to avoid fully living in this life?
