Why should I speak in tongues?

Numerous preachers have different view on speaking in tongues. But the Bible is direct and self explanatory on the topic.

It is held up as a miracle that one is possessed by the higher power and does so.
It is not necessary to do this to be a faithful religious person, nor does it mean that when a person does this they are holier than anyone else.

Why should you indeed! Spiritual experiences are free from sensationalism and pain. It is a sweet, soothing, calming inner experience that would fill you with so much Love, that you feel like crying for mankind, shed tears of Joy.

You would be so elevated, that a tree would be filled with Love, animals and people too. While in that state, your worries will disappear and you will see only good, everywhere!!!

Spiritual experience is not a view, it is not even scripture, although they do speak of it and can inspire. It is an inner experience of God's goodness and mercy. (Grace)

One cannot force Grace, but it works with Self-effort. They are twins. One needs to Love, serve, have an unshakable faith in Something Higher, practice Gratitude, Purity..... but prayer and meditation enlarges the Heart, as well as self-giving and will prepare you to be receptive to God's Light, descending from above.

Have no enemies. Eradicate greed, lust, anger, ego, attachments and their by products of insecurity, fear....

Do not let anyone tell you that the spiritual life is easy. Practice is necessary. I have sat in prayer and Silence every day for up to seven hours sometimes, for 34 years. Avoid those who speak from the head, books and create separation, division, boxes, mental jargon. God is all-inclusive, we need each other, and we are all special Souls from the Divine. Buen Suerte!!

      YOU ARE SICK!
"One cannot force Grace, but it works with Self-effort."
Why would JESUS send the HOLY SPIRIT to "lead & guide" if WE need "self effort?"
You mean JESUS (aka Holy Spirit) needs OUR help?

"Now there are diversities of GIFTS, but the SAME SPIRIT.  And there are differences of administrations, but the SAME LORD.  And there are diversities of operations, but it is the SAME GOD which worketh all in all.  But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.  For to one is give by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the SAME SPIRIT.  To another FAITH by the SAME SPIRIT; to another the GIFTS of healing by the SAME SPIRIT; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another divers KINDS OF TONGUES; to another interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that ONE and SELFSAME SPIRIT, dividing to every man severally as he will.  For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are ONE BODY: so also is CHRIST" (I Corinthians 12:4-12)!

These are "GIFTS" and not everyone has the same!
