That is easy, that is if we follow our spiritual advisors' advice. When I was a Baptist, the preacher used to tell us to "be still and listen, listen to that still, small voice within." Now that I'm not a fundamentalist anymore, but someone who views spirituality from a more hands-on approach, my advisors say "be still and listen, listen to that still, small voice within."
My belief system holds that our creator will never tell us to do something that will be harmful to ourself or to others. If you want something but know that someone will be hurt if you attain your goal, then rest assured that isn't God's will, that's your lower self, ego, wanting it.
Meditation or sincere prayer, whichever is your method, is a good way to get an answer from your god. After you've prayed about it or meditated upon it, sit back and wait for the answer. Trudging ahead with little or no thought to the consequences can be a selfish act but so can indecisive overthinking.
From a spiritual standpoint, I don't determine my creator's will. I thank the creator for my abundance and ask for more to appreciate. It comes back to me in various ways, either physically manifesting or telling my higher self what I should do. Somehow the message gets communicated to my 3rd dimensional mind.
We can't. The Christian god (I'm not knowledgeable enough about other gods to speak of them) has not given direction since it handed down the ten commandments, if even that was true and not just another tale by the priesthood.
Instead we, each and every one of us, must decide for ourselves what is right and wrong. Society, from the priesthood to parents to siblings to friends to the judge behind the bench, will all aid in making that call, but in the end it belongs to each of us.
God's will has something to do, according to Jesus, with heaven.
"Our father who art in heaven ...
Thy kingdom come
Thy Will be done
On Earth as it is in Heaven."
Then He goes on to explain:
One can forgive others,
Be forgiven by God,
Stay away from temptations,
And allow God
To deliver us from evil.
Wouldn't following these precepts bring us peace which one can assume ...
is HEAVEN?
... which, He mentions, is within our minds / our very consciousness!
