Would you rather have a multitude of threads created in which the member who created them does not answer questions, repeats themselves over and over in order to bring their threads to the top, claims their religion is right and everyone else is wrong and refuses to listen to facts?
Or, would you rather just hear someone else call someone an idiot?
P.S. The former is not something the admins will take into consideration.
Or would you rather beat around the bush instead of diving head first into it. Do ya want to talk about it or do ya want to grab onto it and take it home with ya?
I think a 3rd option would be to let a thread be what it is about. For instance, if a thread is about "Do you like to pray in the morning or the evening?" it should be left to those who pray to discuss. But that isn't what happens.
When people mob the thread saying prayer is stupid, defend your god, this is garbage, etc. it results in a war.
Is the OP wrong for standing their ground or is the problem on those who mob the thread insulting? It looks obvious to me.
When a thread gets trashed and the hoped for discussion has not occurred, the OP may try it again hoping for better results.
One last thing, if the OP is a repeat and is known for the frustration, each of us has the power to simply not play the game. No need to call names or argue at all.
Just my thoughts, Holly
I think the OP is referring to the situation where a single person posts multiple threads in the same day that are so similar to each other that more than one is unnecessary, and the purpose is simply to bait people - not have a discussion.
Like:
"My Stuff Is Better Than Your Stuff" and through the entire thread the OP just keeps saying "Yes it is"
and then a second one, like
"My Stuff Is More Expensive Than Your Stuff"
and the a third one like
"Your Stuff Sucks. My Stuff Is Best"
They are all the same thing and they are only being posted to piss people off - there is no discussion to speak of. Just baiting.
Thats a strange example but I don't want to be specific because I don't want to call people out about it.
Thanks Jen. I guess I haven't been on the threads where that is happening? LOL
The example I used was hypothetical as far as I know. Not trying to be shove anyone under a bus either.
On a lighter note - I am hope to get some seeded pots in my green house today. Been dreaming of summer and blooms but it is in the 50's for a high round here. Hope you are enjoying spring Holly
I'd like to see both done. Maybe we'll actually read their thread if they repeat themselves 3 times.
I've always loved that commercial from the 70's! Ah, the days of yesteryear....
Those were innocent times, how about this one, " Two all Beef Patties, Special Sauce, Lettuce, Cheese... lolololo Oh boy we had better not mess up this thread.
"I'd like to give, the world a ____ in perfect harmony."
I believe at the end everyone was in a tree formation.
I believe yours was McDonald's, right? I want to say Burger King, but I think that was before even the King was rivaling Ronald.
Starcraft - much more exciting than battleship!
But, what if their religion is right? I'd rather eat a cheeseburger.....mmmmm....cheeseburgers.
What about Live and Let Live..
Not one thread I've read has stayed on topic.
No one allows those who are interested to comment about what is being said.
It is always someone who doesn't agree who comes here to debate.
Not every thread is for debate.
It's Chaos.
Somebody needs a finger to point at them or they don't know who you are talking to???
I was making an observation.
If you want to point at them, feel free.
This is my last comment on this thread.
Bye

===================================
any conversation can continue around anyone that comes on with a post.
Happens to me all the time and I don't get angry or hurt. Five diffrent sets of conversation can go on at the same time on one thread.

Actually I have never read the rules.
Guess I have been keeping to the rules by accident?
I think?
It would be great if things could stay on topic. I just haven't seen much of that for the past 8 or 10 months.
Thought that the way it is was normal'
Cool everyone staying on topic I like that idea.
Jerami, you and Deborah are getting a bit off topic here...
What was the topic? Oh yes..Beezledad, is there a third option?
Conversations are evolving things and sometimes it's more interesting to go where the byways take you than to rigidly stick to the path.
How about another option where the creater answers questions, does not repeat themselves, doesn't claim their religion is right and everyone else is wrong, actually listens to and acknowledges facts, and nobody calls anybody else an idiot? How about that? Does that work for anybody, or does the idea of an actual real discussion just piss the poop out of everybody that just wants to argue and act like an idiot?
This is the kind of attack that needs to be banned by HP staff.
I think Hokey can stand it. It did not look to me like a serious attack, more like a friendly teasing
I think it is a ban worthy offense.
So, should the creation of a multitude of threads in which the author just keeps repeating themselves over and over again in order to bring their threads to the top.

In the wake of the latest attempted airline bombing, this seems to be the debate of the day. Sure, the airport body scaners are intrusive. The person that scans you gets to see your body. And yeah, that's all of your body. But what's even more upseting to most parents, is the fact that the person...
