I'm new here and one thing that struck me was - don't believers have a sense of humor? After all if you want to convert people, don't you think using sugar instead of salt is the better option?

Ah, well, you see that's the problem, right there, if Jesus had said you are the "sugar" of the earth, we could do that. But since we are the "salt" of the earth we aren't allowed to have a sense of humor.
Of course, I also don't believe in converting people. I do however, believe in converting currency, converting data and converting units of measure.

It all depends on what you consider a "believer" There are many shades in that "Believer" Category.
