Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
What is this verse saying?
What does it mean to YOU?
What is this saying to me? Someone has been drinking to much holy water. It means to me that there are a lot of people incapable of deling with reality and are willing to accept any rediculous thought that excuses them from the responsibility of being themselves.
That is a good answer! Not one that I was looking for though. but
thank you.
My pleasure, I love thinking outside the box and my only wish for mankind is that they develop the ability to think inside it,
Yes the box?
I was once told that we are all given a box right after our birth.
While we are children, we fill this box with our toys.
By the time that we are young adults our box is usually full.
Then ... if we get married we have to take some of our stuff out of the box in order to make room for married life.
And as life progresses we begin to desire other stuff.
Again we have to take something out of our box in order to make room for that stuff.
And this is the way that life goes.
This stuff can either be things Or thoughts.
We only get one box ... And ....
We only have enough room in our box for so much stuff.
All of this stuff can be either things or thoughts.
And it is always good to be looking out side the box to see if you got the right stuff in YOUR box.
I lied! I didn't hear that somewhere!
I just made it up while looking outside of my box.
To me it would be reincarnation and life chart planned before birth while on the other side.
I agree with you... But we can't stop our thinking process there?
If this is true, there would have to be a first time to be incarnated?? and we would have been something before that?
If we were spirits, Sons of God, Angels or what ever???
That doesn't really matter. And yet maybe it does?
Maybe all three would have been given chances with being incarnated?
And that would certainly explain some of the injustices in the world.
Whatever position that our spirits held on that other realm would be reflected in this life.
Regardless of that position we hold in "heaven"; we have free will to experience how the other side feels sorta-speak.?
If the above theory were true? This experience would loose most if not all of its intended purpose.
I was just thinking that this line of thinking would make a good hub or maybe a book. I'm sure there are already books along these lines; for this concept can be expanded upon for eternity.
God knew us Before we Was borned He Has A plan for My life..brenda
The aforementioned quote was taken from The Holy Bible, and the Old Testament book of JEREMIAH CHAPTER 1 VERSE 5. It is Almighty God speaking directly to Jeremiah and telling him the following: "Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee and I ordained thee as a prophet unto the nations." God is telling the prophet Jeremiah that he had been chosen by almighty God to be one of His prophets, even before he was conceived in his mother's womb. It's pretty straight forward and needs no further translation or interpretation as written and read.
Brother Dave.
To me it means that God knew us before we were concieved that we were a spirit, and that he placed us in the womb.
That is what I was thinking when I just ran across it a little while ago.
Didn't think I'd hear that answer so quickly.
Many people interpret this to mean that God knew what we were GOING to be.
I think it means exactly what it says.
He knew Jeremiah in person before Jeremiah was conceived.
that would be my interpretation also, and that sounds very nice for all the babies that got born healthy, but what about the babies that died, or were born with horrific defects and were in pain to die shortly after birth?
I believe God knew us before we were concieved. We were a spirit before we were born.
I to believe we were a spirit
and we knew him before we were born.
It's awesome, and I am greatly touched when I think about it.
When that concept first came to mind, I started looking at everything scriptural with a different set of eyes.
And this message seems to be obvious all over the place.
I actually thought that this question was going to start an uproar.
Cause if you really think about it??? this concept opens a lot of questions beginning with.... If this is true I wonder why religion doesn't teach it this way.
The word of God have great depth in it. Some people understand only partial meaning of scriptures and have not allowed God to open their eyes to the full meaning. I believe this is why the scripture has not been taught in this way.
You have a point. And like he said.. don't let the left hand know what the right hand is doing.
If we knew maybe it would take the joy and intrigue out of it??
There are a lot of things recently coming to light.
Maybe that means something too??
Yes, there are other things coming to the light.
So where were all these billinos of spirit hanging out bfore thy were born then?
I would guess the same place folks are expecting them to go when it is all said and done? OR NOT?
Oooh se if we wre all floating about in some etherial spiritual dimension, then that opens up a whol can of worms:
1. Why don't we remember it?
2. God must have created something like 100 billion blank spiritual entities at creation and kept them in a freezer until He required each one to be born.
3. Now we are getting into the debate of reincarnation as each spirt says "Ooh can I get a second ride on th white knuckle ride called life?"
No not convinced man actually has a spirit. If man was originally created to live forever on Earth, then a spirit is completely redundant.
I gave this answer on another thread
It seems more appropriate here.
"IF" there is no higher power that some people call God?
What then would have caused all of these birth defects?
What then causes all of the suffering in the world?
If there is no god? who's fault is it that there are children starving to death in this world?
Your answer to these questions is the correct!
The answer to these questions does not prove one way or the other the existence of a God.
It does however Make many peoples concepts of who or what that God is,said or does hard or impossible to believe.
So I think that it is only concepts that we are really debating.

========================================
there are too many verses in scripture that an over abundance of our interpretative skills have adulterated.
We just need to quit changing the meanings of the actual written text.
If we are going to say that we believe what the bible says? We gotta quit doing that!
obviously the bible is as clear as mud, as people come up with so many different interpretations, hence the many different sects arising from disagreement
The bible is as clear as a slow moving mountain stream...
If we are in the middle of it and walking up stream it always looks to be clear.
If we walk down stream it always looks to be murky.
And after we are through the next person finds it in its original condition.
In answer to a question on another thread?
This was a parable and not a myth.
it means that writer of the verse had great imaginative skills...
or it meant they believed god had a purpose for their lives
well purpose is reason for which religion does exist..life would become meaning less otherwise and thats why humans created religious god and gave all sorts of meanings...we are one of species but we tend to add meaning to lives ...life would be so boring without heaven , hell concept...no eternal life , this is what it is...no one is looking whether you do good or not ..no judgment...this would erode all excitement ...isn't it?
for me life would be boring without scientific enquiry, creative expression etc
same here....but i am not against religion too...i dont believe in religion being divine neither do i believe in religious god...but i do respect people who designed religions...this did there best to answers questions in their own way...they did contribute in directing human race...i am only against sticking to it in way that it divides people my way only way concept...other than that if person keeps his/her belief private ..i am fine with that...science is silent server and science in end prevails...just look at all the things which we believe now as true...in past those were considered to be false...but science eventually prevailed...
Well I couldn't sleep.. came in here, .. gotta get up in 4 hours so I'll say good night.
will see whats up with coffee in four.
well if I am a prophet, more people should read my hubs (and they might as well click my ads while they're at it)
before you were born?
Before you were born, you never existed; it is pure mercy of the Creator-God that one is endowed with life and one exists.
There are many indicatore that we were with God from the foundation of the earth.
He knew us before we were in the womb.
Our names were in the book of life from the foundation of the world?
Kinda like a roll call before we got on the bus to come here.
Kinda like we are at disneyland and there are many dangers and maybe a few perverts and pedophiles that we were warned to stay away from. Call it good advice to follow,
Call it rules to live by.... Call it sins to avoid, ... Call it whatever you want to.
Most important thing is to listen for his voice.
Get used to hearing his voice even when we are in a crowd.
Gotta be ready to hear his voice Cause .....
he'll be driving the bus to take us back home.
I definately agree with the possibility of our intelligence existing before the creation of the Earth. Though there are some questions which went unanswered in biblical text, I believe that god has left it up to mankind to grow in understanding and knowledge, "line upon line, precept upon precept..."
If all of God's knowledge were revealed to us then there would be no need for us to be here.
I wrote a hub about it; http://hubpages.com/hub/immortality-of-intelligence
Jerami. You know something. You are extremely close to it. If it were a snake (not that snake) it would bite you.
No bus. Can't go if you already there. You are almost there. When is your birtday?
What if someone had proof. Don't laugh too hard, just answer the question.
I would want to examine the evidence carefully, thoughtfully, and prayerfully, as hard evidence of spiritual matter would disolve the need for faith. And faith is the thing that needs to be increased in the world. Before God reveals himself to us we need to have faith in him.

I think that since he knew us and we knew him before we were formed in the womb.... that his plan was for us to experience life in the physical realm ... enjoy ourselves, don't hurt anyone, learn a few lessons, become wiser, and bring some of that back home with us when we go.
Yes he does have a plan for us, kinda like the activities director on a cruse ship has a plan. But not everyone cooperates all of the time. It seems that a mutiny has broken out.
And he has a plan for that too.
In the end... it will all work out for the best. Whether we all like it or not.

What would it take to believe? As a former Christian turned atheist, I am often asked what it would take for me to believe in a god again. The simple answer is that I don't know. If you are an atheist/agnostic, what would it take for you to start believing? If you are a believer of...
