Rev 20-10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Sounds more like he will be tormented day and night for ever and ever to me. Destroyed suggest in my mind that he would be no more. Sounds like he's there, he just won't like it to much.
Let use understanding to understand, what forever and forever means, If I take a peace of paper and burn it up, how long will it be burned up, forever, how long, forever, how long, forever, do you under stand now.
I agree, let us use understanding. If you want to get picky with words, you might want to ditch the english translation and go back and study the original manuscript.
But if you don't I guess it all goes back to that wonderful thing about Christianity in that everyman is accountable for his own plan of salvation. One can interpret the word one way and another man another and it doesnt really matter to much as long as the two can agree that Christ is the only way to heaven. If this is true, than it doesnt really matter what the bible says because the Spirit should be leading those men in through their lives and thusly they should both be acting accourding to the original intent of Christ teachings, that is to say they are both lead by the Spirit of Christ.
But in the end these things really don't matter. It's passages like this that get picked apart all the time but hold no relevence to salvation. Christ is the one who should be the topic, did he exist or did he not, if he did was he the messiah or a liar?
Since the devil was created from the imagination, it should be no problem destroying him with your imagination. See how easy that was?
How will the devil be destroyed? It would have to exist first, before it could be destroyed.
The concept of forever seems difficult for some people to understand.
Take this story and maybe it will help give an idea.
This immortal bird with a beak as hard as diamond can only sharpen his beak at a mountain on the other side of the universe. The trip takes him 100,000 million years, both ways. When he has sharpened his beak so many times as to have worn it out eternity will have only blinked. Forever is a long long long time.
Through the belief of positive thought, the focus on love, nothing can touch anyone.
'All you need is love, love, love'
The best way to destroy Satan, is to ignore him completely.
How is ignoring him a way to destroy him? I don't understand.
The simplest answer to your question is - you only give power to those who you let affect/effect you. Thus, ignoring them, you defuse the power they are looking to gain.
So an officer only has power because we give the badge he carrys power.......if I were to ignore the badge than the cop is no longer a cop and just a dill hole with a gun. Interesting thought.......flawed but interesting.
The topic here is that the Devil does exist. Ignoring someone doesnt take thier power from them.
Well, you living an honest life and not doing anything illegal, then you can ignore the badge and even the cop for that matter.
Flawed? Nothing flawed in my statement. You give power to those who you let affect/effect you.
You are ignoring the main point, which isn't a surprise. The "devil" does not exist. However, even if it did exist, all it can do is try to influence you to make you do something "evil" or stupid. Nothing more. If you let it influence you, then you have only yourself to blame and not the actual thing that influenced you.
Ignoring someone? Stick with the topic- the "devil" isn't a person, it's a fictional character.
You can take away someone's power to influence you, by understanding the larger aspects of life. If the person is trying to influence you into doing something stupid, then you don't...you have negated their power over you.
Or are you missing that point.
I am sticking to the topic, you seem to be oblivious, as always, to what that topic is and only want to discuss a point that you have made. The topic is that the Devil, christian devil mind you, is real. If you were a learned person of the christian beliefs than you would know and not be ignorant of the topic. The devil was given an amount of power in the physical realm, If he didnt he wouldnt have been able to inflict Job with the trials that he did. God gave the devil all power over Job with only the restriction that he could not kill him.
You have spend my tolerance of prideful, two tongued, arogency and I am through addressing any point you make from here on out. Your profile speaks of an agenda as a politian as I stated to you before and your posts on forum threads stick of hypocracy. You attack those around you and boast of your so called knowledge and higher moral standing than all those around you.
You, stranger, bleed every quality found to be told of Lucifer before the fall. The devil isnt real you say but he seems to have influenced you very well. You seem incapable of keeping your own religion out of a topic and seek to convert all you meet to your standard of thinking.
I came here to discuss this persons POV on this topic without preaching my values or beliefs, condeming anyone for lack of knowledge in anything. I could impose my "faith" idea's onto any topic but that would be irrelivent to the post because the posts are not about my beliefs!
However I cannot say that this past week spend in your company has been bad because you have taught me someing today, I will apply your theory to ignoring your posts and you completely. We shall see if you simply disappear, as far as Im conceirned you don't even exisit, you are just words in manuscript so to speak. There is no proof you are even there at all. So, if I use your logic, I shall have no problem putting this thought that is you out of my head.
Good day higher life form and good luck on your journey convert those you meet into your zealic thinking.
Oh and by the way, just because you choose not to acknowledge those over you with the authority they hold does not mean they do not hold it. Law abiding or not a cop is a cop and he holds authority. If I were to ignore him under that concept than I would no doubt acrue violations and infractions for not pulling over for ambulances or cruisers in pursuit. You, even you are subject to the law even if you choose to ignore it.
Why are you talking and asking about already destroyed one.
