   Does anyone have a problem with the characteristics of love stated in 1CORINTHIANS 13:4 Love is patient,love is kind. it does not envy, it does not boast. It is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
   
   
   If so, please explain why.

      I don't have any issues with it all, however Love has many definitions and sometimes it is hard to hold up to God's words.

         Yes there are many definitions of love but the one I seek is agape love and I think that encompasses them all. And yes it is hard to hold up to God's words or to live by his standards but it gets easier with time and study.

      Great concept, but only wishful thinking that it came your God.
      
      Here is the type of being your God is:
      
      I the Lord your God am a jealous               
      God (Exodus 20:5)....for the Lord,                       
      Whose name is Jealous, is a jealous
      God (Exodus 34:14).

         Yep, and I am jealous for my wife.  If anyone takes liberties with her, I have every right to be furious and hold the man accountable.  Jealousy is a measure of love under certain circumstances.

                  That's not what jealousy is.
                  Jealousy is a second-hand emotion that is a part of an insecure person as I understand it

                  Or were you giving them the definition you pulled from the bible?
                  
                  Last time I checked, humankind's definition are the rule of thumb and those are the ones I go by, so you spouting something from a bible...doesn't quite get the job done, considering the bible is NOT a dictionary.

      Very nice definition of love. But since it is found in the Bible, why is it some many who claim to be Christian do not follow this definition of love?

   I think it is a very limited description of the compass of love - and if anyone needs a book to tell them what love is then they have never experienced the real thing.

      We use books as guidelines and instruction manuals almost everyday of our lives, and the Bible is just that. And agape love covers the whole spectrum of love.

   Change the word "love" to "Jesus" and you'll get what is behind this Scripture.  No one has lived up to that descripiton, except Him.  But, in Christ, believers are accepted by God as though they had and they begin to display significant advances toward consistently loving, even their enemies.  Note, I wrote "advances toward".  We'll not be perfect in this life.

   If we all strived for the type of Love that is in the Bible, the world would be a better place. Even if you are not a Christian you have to agree to this. Because if we Loved our neighbor as ourself, we would all serve each other and thus many of this worlds ills would be healed.

      Which love do you mean? The love god will give you if he does not kill you for not believing in him?........or the conditional "You can be loved if..." of the NT?

         agape love, no strings attached. God hates the sin but loves the sinner, that is why Jesus died on the cross so man could be reconciled with God.
