Sex is natural like eating and sleeping, yet too much of anything (except love) which make love and sex a mass mess of confusion. Christian lack adult sex education because of their absurd laws in the Bible. Christians, most likely have their ultimate love first, as Yahweh, for me, a woman to share my life would be first. Too often they see as "sin" is, matters of sex, I’m doing a hub on this topic and would appreciate your views.

.??? Since when did Christians lack sex education, and which biblical laws do you think prohibit sex education?

Growing up in the UK, all school children are given sex education at various stages appropriate to their ages. Parents do have the right to pull out their children, but I've never heard of that happening. Very many churches also run sex education sessions for their teenagers.

Whether or not God is someone's ultimate love how does that change a Christian's attitude towards sex within a marriage? Granted a Christian will be taught that sex outside of arrange is a sin, but once married, "whey hey".

You say that in matters of sex, Christians see it as sin. What do you mean specifically? Sexual positions? Oral sex? Anal sex? Sex in public? The New Testament simply states that sexual immorality is a sin, but it doesn't define what tht is explicitly. Other than sex outside of marriage, or controversially homosexuality, the Christian is left to interpret for themselves what constitutes sexual immorality.

Yes, all Christians need adult sex education.  That's part of the christian membership application now.  If you know anything about sex, you aren't allowed in the club.  I think someone is cheating though, because somehow they keep having MORE Christians.

Please keep it quiet for now though.  My conservative Christian husband thinks that I just keep accidentally slipping and falling on him.  I have no idea how to explain my FIFTH pregnancy to him.

I find Christian being rash with their kids by telling them not to have sex, which  is like telling them not to smoke pot. Kids know pot is healthier than cigarettes so they smoke pot more. I think the sex Education in School is very limited and Christian often do not talk about the up and downsides of sex, why not give the hap-penis lifestyle part of the story too. Christians use NT and borrow the Hebrew OT also to keep their kids in line, For example

Romans 1:26-32 calls for the death penalty for both male and female homosexuality.

If a man cheats on his wife, or vice versa, both the man and the woman must die. (Leviticus 20:10)..........................
That means most of us must die, the President Clinton was impeach for screwing a woman, GW Bush was not for screwing a Country

      1. MelissaBarrett profile image58
MelissaBarrettposted 11 years agoin reply to this

Once again, huge broad sweeping generalizations.  Firstly, it is not rash to tell children not to have sex.  I have a 12 year old.  I would be wicked unhappy if he had sex right now.  My 18 year old? Different story.  I still don't want to hear about it, but that conservative christian husband I told you about makes sure there is a condom in my son's wallet every time he goes out.

Secondly, yeah I frown upon my children smoking pot.  I don't give a rat's ass if it's "healthier than cigarettes".  I kinda don't like my kids committing felonies.  Call me old fashioned.  Has nothing to do with the bible.  Most parents don't have happy fuzzy feelings about their kids firing up their first doobie.

Thirdly, happiness is not necessarily about screwing everyone you meet.  I agree that it's a wonderful part of a loving relationship but it isn't the end all.  I actually think even the most fundamental Christians get that part right when they are discussing sex with their kids.  They tend to stress the love part of the relationship equation...  While I may not agree that no sex before marriage is a bit unrealistic, I am also not going to purposely advocate "Go screw everything!  One-night stands are a part of happiness!"

As to your last remark, if you wanted to make this yet another thread about Christians vs. Homosexuality then just say so.  However, it is completely unrelated to the ability of a Christian to have a happy sex life and/or the amount of sexual education that Christians have.

If you want to make this a thread about Clinton vs. Bush and who was the best president then go for it.  It is also unrelated to Christians needing sex education.  Please try and stay on topic.  Especially since it was your topic to begin with.

This thread is about the whole topic of moderate sex education online and the America being very Biblical about it. Could Include Canada also getting brainwash by this Hollywood or Porn America version of Sex and Violence, which I’m not for this kinds of double moral education.

I’m also not for continuing this 74 year America worst war ever on a simply plant called Cannabis. Smoking pot is not a felony in a few States for health reasons over the age of 18, not like smoking legal fags worldwide. It was just an example like telling people not to think about blue, what do people do? Think about blue even greater, and then commit a greater sin, then punish worst then the crime.

When Children are curiously about sex, be friendly, be informed enough to educate them.

Wow, happiness is not necessarily about screwing everyone you meet. Not in my books of moderate sex too, dieses are a long term bummer. At least you don’t think sex before marriage is realistic; now tell that to Christian programmed breeders, sorry gays.

The best sex of all is in a loving relationship, Clinton finally admitted his mistake, his wife forgave him , The great work Clinton did for America was replace by a born again President who rather see two people killing each other than two people returning back to making love.

Talking about making more Christians, Catholics have their way

      One song, cums to mind
"every sperm is sacred, every sperm is great! If a sperm is wasted, God gets quite  irate".

So basically, you are saying Christians don't know anything about sex and Catholics have too much of it?  *Nods* got it.  Any revelations on the sexual habits of the Jehovah's Witnesses?  How about the seven day Adventists?

Actually what you're talking about is puritanistic, fundamentalist Christians who have no real understanding of the bible.

What did "God" do after he noticed Adam was lonely in the garden? He created Eve from him. The bible encourages the relationship and even sex between a man and a woman. Though that statement right there will offend many people. I'm just stating what is written.  Also fornication is frowned upon. But then again, most of the fundamentalists forget (or would rather not acknowledge) that you don't have to be married by "The Church" or even "The Law" to be married under "God".

I can't go by what the Bible says in regards to that, since these sorts of things weren't in question--nor ever thought would ever be questioned.

but I think according to the principles written in the Bible, Gay marriage would be treated like hetero marriage, as we're all "God's" children, and covered by the sacrificial lamb.

But don't go asking any fundie about that. You'll get a wholly different answer.

Exodus 21:7 God not only sanctions selling ones daughter into slavery, but he also gives out laws on how it should be done.

Exodus 21:10 God ordains men taking several wives and even sets up laws as to how multiple wives should be handled.

Leviticus 18:19 Goes onto say that even LOOKING at a menstruating woman is wrong.

Leviticus 21:9 Explains that unchaste daughters of priests must be burnt to death.  What about his unchaste sons?

Leviticus 27:3-7 God places a dollar value on human life; with women worth less than men.

Numbers 30:3-16  A woman can’t make a vow unless her husband allows it.

Numbers 31: 14-18  Moses tells his men to kill all the males, non-virginal women, elderly and children of the Midianite tribe. Of course, the virgin women are kept for raping.

Deuteronomy 20:13-15  Kill all the men and boys in the cities that God “delivers into your hands,” but keep the women for raping.

Deuteronomy 21:11-14  If you see a pretty woman among the captives then just take her home and “go in unto her.”

Deuteronomy 22:5 Women that wear men’s clothing are an “abomination unto the Lord.”

Deuteronomy 22:13-22 Women, be sure to keep the tokens of your virginity.  Otherwise the men of your city may stone you to death.

Deuteronomy 22:23-24It says that women who are raped and fail to “cry out loud” in a populated area are most likely enjoying the attack should be killed.

Deuteronomy 22:28-29 A rapist must buy his victim from her father for 50 shekels.  Is this supposed to be some type of retribution?  What about the victim here, what if she doesn’t want to marry a pig who raped her?  All that matters is her father receives payment for his “property”.

Deuteronomy 25:11-12 Says that we must cut off a woman’s hand if she touches the “secrets” of a man who is fighting with her husband…“And thine eye shall not pity her.”  Once again, there is no punishment for the man she touched, only the woman.
There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.

          Ezekiel 23:20
“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple.”
Homosexual acts are an abomination to God. 18:22

Women are not to wear men's clothing -- it's an "abomination unto the Lord." 22:5

God kills everyone in Sodom and Gomorrah. 19:4-5, 24-25

Saul sets an example for Christian parents that discover that they have a homosexual child: try to kill the child and his or her lover. 20:31-33

          1. With his usual intolerance, Paul condemns homosexuals (including lesbians). This is the only clear reference to lesbians in the Bible. 1:26-28
          1 Timothy
Homosexuals (those "that defile themselves with mankind") are included on the list of lawless, disobedient, unholy, and profane people.

          1. God sent "eternal fire" on the people of Sodom and Gomorrah for "going after strange flesh." 7-8
          1. "Dogs [homosexuals?], sorcerers, whoremongers, idolaters" and along with anyone who ever told a lie will not enter the heavenly city. 22:15

"I permit no woman to teach or have authority over men; she is to keep silent." Timothy 2:11

          Ezekiel 16:17
“You also took the fine jewelry I gave you, the jewelry made of my gold and silver, and you made for yourself male idols and engaged in prostitution with them.”

          Deuteronomy 23:1
No one whose testicles are crushed or whose male organ is cut off shall enter the assembly of the Lord.

          Ezekial 23:19-20
Yet she increased her prostitution, remembering the days of her youth when she engaged in prostitution in the land of Egypt. She lusted after their genitals as large as those of donkeys, and their seminal emission was as strong as that of stallions.

          Genesis 19:30-36o
Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their father.

In Genesis 29: 21-28, Jacob had taken a job where he was to be paid entirely in woman. His boss, Laban, promised his daughter Rachel in exchange for seven years of work. After the seven years, Laban pulled a fast one and swapped in his ugly daughter, Leah, instead

Ex. 21:7 has nothing to do with sex. The laws regarding slavery (or servanthood, as that is more what is being talked about) were only for those who sold themselves or family into slavery through poverty or crime. This type of slavery was only to last seven years, after which they were freed. It was a system that was much nobler than the type of slavery practiced among the Europeans and Americans a few hundred years ago.

Ex. 21:10 - You have misunderstood this verse. It means nothing like that. Here is a simple comment from Matthew Henry's Commentary:

"Concerning maid-servants, whom their parents, through extreme poverty, had sold, when they were very young, to such as they hoped would marry them when they grew up; if they did not, yet they must not sell them to strangers, but rather study how to make them amends for the disappointment; if they did, they must maintain them handsomely. Thus did God provide for the comfort and reputation of the daughters of Israel, and has taught husbands to give honour to their wives as to the weaker vessels."

Lev. 18:19 - no, you misunderstood this one also. Here's the text:

"Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness."

The point was not to "uncover the nakedness" of a woman who was in her period. It's a simple health practice.

Lev. 21:9 - The text does not warrant unchaste sons. It's a warning against the priest's daughter playing a harlot. Since male prostitution was not an issue at that time, it was not mentioned. But as regarding the sons of priests, Aaron's sons were also burnt with fire when they violated the laws of the priests. Lev. 10:1,2. So there's no double-standard here.

I could go through every other verse and explain them also, but it is clear that you have not attempted to do any work on understanding these verses. You are intent on finding excuses.

If I used the same approach with the laws of men, I would sit at a "Stop" sign all day, and then blame the government for not changing the sign to "Go" so that I could drive on.

The problem is not with the Bible, but with the interpreter. You read into it what you want to see.

I am sorry but slavery is wrong! No one should EVER be sold into slavery, NO MATTER WHAT! As I see it, if the person does not own their life and the fruits of ALL of their labor, then they cannot own their supposed 'sin'. Thier 'owner' must, their owner would then be burdened with the 'sin' of jealousy as a slave will always be jealous of their master for his freedom, something they cannot have until it is granted to them. You are also aware that a master may beat his slave so long as it does not kill the slave? So cause brain damage and cripple them, its fine, God says so! Just so long as you don't kill them.

The saying is not, by the sweat of someone else's brow shall they earn thy bread for you and in their suffering shalt tho eat it.

I bet I could find a prisoner in just about any jail today who would NOT sell their daughter into slavery for any reason, not even for their own freedom. Are you telling me that some modern day prisoners have stronger morals then God?

As to religious attitudes toward sex, what I find the biggest problem to be is respect and love. Sex can be wonderful but not when respect and love are missing. Men are not really taught to love and respect all women, even the ones they aren't having sex with and many women are never taught to love and respect themselves, some men never learn that lesson either. When love and respect are missing sex can become both a tool and a weapon and it should be neither.

Considering that God gave to each family a portion of land that was enough to independently earn a living, I would say that almost all of us are a nation and world full of slaves now, for departing from His plan.

For we do go to work, at least 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, to build up someone else's "bread". And it's not only for six years and then we have to do it for the rest of our lives! We are all slaves (and I'm not even considering debts from credit cards, mortgages, loans, etc). God's plan was much better. It was simply a way of working to pay off a debt, and then only for a few years.

But really, if you want to step into the judgment seat on God's actions, then you better have a full understanding of all the circumstances of the time, the conditions of the world, the conditions of the hearts of the people God had to deal with, and full knowledge of the future consequences of any laws you might impose.

Jesus also declared that certain laws were made "because of the hardness of your hearts." We also have those kinds of laws today, which our governments have to impose upon us because of our hard hearts. So times have not changed, and people are not much better now than they were at that time.

God dealt with them where they were at, and curbed their  evil dispositions. Hence we have such laws as "an eye for an eye" because the natural disposition of man is to take a hundred eyes for one eye. Are people still like that? Certainly. Take the Iraq war for example; one million eyes for a few thousand eyes, and the Iraqi's weren't even involved in 9/11. Yet we are so much better than God...really?

If we were slaves we would have NO CHOICE in what job we do and would not get paid for it either. I can quit my job if I wish. I can take another job instead and my job pays me a fair wage for the work I do. I am NO SLAVE. I am free to choose, slaves are NOT. They work for NO PAY. I work for a paycheck, I also work because I believe my job makes the world a better and safer place, I choose my job. I chose it because it would give me more then a paycheck, the paycheck is nothing in comparison to the other stuff it gives me. My job is to protect children on their way to and from school, to ensure they do not get hit by cars and I can tell you, had I not been there there is at least one occasion where the family, thats mom and both kids, would have been hit by a speeding car. I don't know if they would have dies or just had their lives totally ruined by near fatal injury. The point is, I am free to make my choices. A slave is NOT. I find it abhorrent to defend slavery and cannot fathom anyone claiming any morality when they do. They have no right to that claim as they are totally devoid of any morality. Slavery is murder of the soul.

I also know that I will NEVER be beaten by those who employ me, and that is because of man made laws, not Gods laws.

If some angry drivers decides they are unhappy that I stopped them so some kids could get to school, my employers would prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. So not only would they not beat me but they would take what actions they can to protect me from such. And it does happen, when I started I was warned to be careful of the drivers for another doing the same job as me had had a death threat from a driver who had hit a child while driving. They were on paid leave while the courts did their job.

To preface, I am an agnostic pantheist (yes confusing I know). So before you take this as some Christian defending his beliefs and automatically getting on the attack, just pay attention to what I'm saying. If you listen (read, meditate on) to what I'm saying, you'll be a lot happier and a chunk of pressure will be taken from you, I promise.

You're listing a bunch of  scriptures out of context. The bible is not just a book of "commands" and fables. It's a chronicling of the People of Israel and their and the world's early history. Of course, it's purpose to be a "historical text". It wasn't written by scholars. It was written by spiritual men. Like most other religious "scriptures".

If you studied the bible instead of picking random scriptures to prove your point that you seem so inert to believe (that Christians are all hateful bigots) which I believe you want to hold onto so you can continue hating them for mistreatment you've gotten from people who masqueraded as Christians--you'd know that it flows in a certain manner.

Like I said, I am by no means a "bible thumper" I don't even consider myself a "Christian". I'm a truth seeker. Truth doesn't stay in one line of thought. It isn't linear. It's in ALL the scriptures. Along with that there will be inconsistencies and contradictions in ALL the scriptures (of all spiritualities) because...THEY WERE WRITTEN BY MEN.

I digressed a bit, sorry. Anyhow, up to my adolescence I was a bible student and spent most of my childhood being trained to be a preacher. The First half of the bible does say some extremely outrageous sh!t. I won't lie, even the last half does. But in context it all makes sense. For one, many laws and commandments were expunged by "The Sacrificial Lamb"--meaning that people are "covered". What fundamentalist Christians nowadays forget (see also: false Christians) is that their very savior preached love and tolerance and he saved everyone. All sinners. All answer to "God" in the end. In their case Yahweh.

There is no reason to "sanitize" awful statements in the bible. Just like there is no need to in the other scriptures (which if people read them and weren't just being biased they'd realize are often just as if not more outrageous). It is what it is. Chronicling and writing BY MEN. Imperfect men.

And like most religions (which Christianity wasn't meant to be in the first place--you'd know that if you read between the lines when it came to scriptures--specifically the ones where JESUS was talking to people--which in the end are the ones that truly matter, considering it's CHRIST-ianity and he expunged and erased many sins and eradicated--see also: removed the need for Mosaic Law and the Old Covenant) There is Dogma. Yes, even Buddhism and other eastern religions have DOGMA. Pay attention and be mindful of your biases and sentimentalism that go hand in hand with each other and you'll notice it.

This kicking crosses crap is getting old. Christians are such an easy target, and mostly it's [willful] misunderstandings and ignorance that keep it up. It really is like, people enjoy picking on them.

If you all realized the truth about what Christianity really is. How there are people actually doing it. And came to terms with the fact that, well, each of the world religions has detractors you'll accept the existence of Christians. Ironically just allowing them to just be--even the bigots who don't even know their own stuff makes you the bigger man (go figure!).

              Thanks for your comments

When it come to Christians being intellectual targets, yes often enough., yet when it comes to the physical world, the Christians will kick the *** LIVING #** out of us.

Yes, and there are tons of them who'd defend you against those bullies. But in general, how many people would see someone, anyone getting attacked--brutally, or even just accosted and not do anything, even?

Humans are all pretty effed up. The thing that I find about most religions or ways, if followed correctly tend to give people guidelines (or, I think, incentive) to do things they already know they should be doing hahaha
messed up part is that us being stupid and obstinate sometimes keeps us from doing them. And well, they're flawed to begin most of our finer ideas that are supposed to make things easier--point and case: technology.

      Sex on the Brain
The idea that men think about sex every seven seconds, like the claim that we only use 10 percent of our brains, is often repeated but rarely sourced. The number doesn't bear up against scrutiny. According to theKinsey Report (Sexual Behavior in the Human Male), 54 percent of men think about sex every day or several times a day, 43 percent a few times a week or a few times a month, and 4 percent less than once a month. Even though the Kinsey Report relies on men to self-report on how often they think about sex, it's still eye opening to find that just under half of men aren't even thinking about sex once a day. Clearly, the seven-second rule may be a tad hyperbolic.

About 98% men masturbate, did Jesus do it?

Honestly, sometimes I don't want to think about sex and I do. I believe it's a natural inclination, but sometimes it gets in the way of things haha..well it's never when I'm actively sexual. If I think about it then, it doesn't bother me as much.

We surely demonize sexuality. Funny thing is: if we think about sex so often, it's more than likely because we aren't having it, or haven't in any period of time. I believe that part of those studies isn't included. Or wasn't there to begin with.

I did read in an article that people who are having sex think about sex way less. Go figure.Like people who haven't eaten since breakfast thinking about what they're going to have for lunch all through the morning.

Food and sex are often interconnected, must be an oral thing. Like babies, we always got to put things in our mouths or other places. That sex is connected to feeding, and even appears to make food sharing ... ...for instance, they may come together for a hug and mouth-to-mouth kiss. ...

well, mammals is rooted in the word "mama", "to suck". It's a distinctive trait of mammals. Oral fixations, I think, is what you're referring to. I guess we do. I surely do. One reason I have a hard time quitting smoking haha.
