The people that made this country great very early on were part of fraternal clubs. Men had their clubs and women had their clubs. I hope to see a resurrection of this mentality because we all need to realize that we are only as strong as those true brothers and sisters that we surround ourselves with. My club give me hope in the American Dream not the government or a TV show or movies but My club and my brothers.
Was it like a country club or something. I guess there are some wierd people out there
I never wanted a club that required some kind of strange complicated rituals and I know I'm just a redneck deep down and not an outlaw biker, but I always wanted the other stuff that comes from have a club and a patch. The brotherhood part of it but nowadays that seems to have vanished.
Sure why not? They spawned the great robber barons, the'good old boy system' and kept whole ethnic groups in their places. Not to mention keeping women either in the kitchen or typing and fetching coffee. Let's bring them back.
I realize that sounded sarcastic, but they did more harm than good. Imo. Nothing wrong with a foursome of guys in a round of golf, but I wouldn't be an advocate of clubs founded solely to separate the sexes.
According to one or two of our friends here, they all became Satan worshippers too.
Thats not what I'm advocating at all its easy to put a bad spin on something like this I'll admit that but there was a time when women in a community came together and shared their common interests with each other and men could do the same. Now more often than not roles are being blended together for better or worse depending on the situation. Fathers and Mothers do all the same things and Daughters and Sons don't see much difference. A good ole boys network tried to keep people down because that was what they founded themselves on. What I'm talking about are people that want to achieve good things together and help one another in bad times and celebrate together in good times.
Believe it or not men acting like men doesn't mean treating women with the disrespect you are insisting. I would never condone something like that but to say that a foursome of guys playing golf is men acting like men is a joke, thats recreation I'm talking about being apart of something to be proud of something that can teach us all that we actually have some control over our own lives not this sad modern version of the original American Dream.
Why would you think that banding together to do something good can only be accomplished by separating the sexes into clubs?
What is this 'sad version fo the American Dream' that you reference? The fact that both sexes feel comfortable not being boxed into specific roles? I'm not sure I'm following your argument.
It sure looks like everyone is making a lot of assumptions about clubs. Now they all became devil worshippers or they came together to exclude women and oppress them. The fact is that Men think like Men and Women think like Women. When men get together to work towards a common goal that is important to them it is not automatically evil or oppressive. In the same line when women band together to accomplish a goal that is common among their group they are equally as effective and not evil either. I suppose people that grew up trusting one another out in the country understand things differently. We don't have police stations a couple city blocks away, we have them 10 or 15 miles away. Our goals and values reflect American individualism where you can be strong on your own but even stronger with your neighbors or your club brothers or sisters by your side.
Most of you probably never bothered to look at the good those old fashioned fraternal clubs did, like through dances and parties so that families and neighbors could socialize or raise money for a needy families in their area. Oh not to mention when members of the "IOOF" or "Ladies Auxillary" had an accident and couldn't work (back in the days before welfare or disability coverage) the club came together to help put food on the table while they recovered. Doesn't sound like my idea of a devil worshipper but then again I've never meant a devil worshipper so I won't make it sound like I know what they are like.
Well, at least we know misogyny is alive and kicking.
Fancy word to use just to insult what you don't understand. Never have or will hate women my wife or daughters included sorry for whatever made you so hateful. We sure hope things turn around for ya and you can find some peace.
That's an odd response, the word is not "fancy" but instead describes accurately the mindset you are providing here.
Yes, this is me being hateful --->
How exactly is belonging to a male only club misogynistic? Maybe they meet to find ways to make women's lives easier.
That's something. Like I thought, spew words out and hope something happens.
I was just waiting for the women here to respond to your comments. Should be quite a show.
I've said a couple times that I don't try to tell other people how they have to live but people out there sure get nasty when they don't understand how we live. Kind of sad really. Thanks for asking why my club automatically hates women cuz I've searched through everything I have said but still I can't find where that statement is. HAHAHA I even started go back through the bylaws still nothing. lol
Unfortunately, no portion of your post gave any reason why a club exclusive to men or women would be needed to accomplish any of what you said.
You are right forming or belonging to a club is not a necessity for everyone or for achieving all goals that people have. In fact belonging to a church isn't necessary to get into heaven but being around like minded people can really make a person feel like they are part of something rather than being all alone, of course some people would rather be loners if that works for them thats cool with me not my job to tell anybody else how they have to live their life I just know what works for me.

I have been hearing people say recently that because Obama has done such a poor job, and he is the first black president; it will be harder for another black person to become president. It made me think, so I am wanting to put this one out there and read your thoughts on this issue. I believe that...
