Yes!!! were the Jew, the example to the world? Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

The nation of Israel was definitely to be God's example to the world. He chose them not because they were big and powerful, but because they were small and weak so that He could display His power to the world.

Since Jesus came, it is His followers, whether Jewish or Gentile, who are to be the example to the world. If only we all did what He told us to do...

It's actually the nation of Israel who were to be God's living examples of how people are to live to the nations.  The "Jews" are just the descendents of the Tribe of Judah.  It is a mistake to use the terms interchangeably.  People tend to use the term "Jew" to refer to the whole nation of Israel, but the promises of the Mosaic covenant were made to 12 Tribes + Levi, not one.
