Hey guys I want to invite you to discuss the Bible as 66 seperate documents.

Whether you believe that the Bible is a collection of stories, or the word of God it does not matter in this thread.

This thread is for discussing the content of the Bible, the books, authors and the culture.

I would like to critically analyze the different books and their purposes.

Have fun! Let's start with John.

And the word was with God, and the word was God.

      (And Jesus is the word).

Maybe there's room for discussion there, but no room for debate.
It's parallel to Genesis 1: 1, my favorite verse.
A simple declaration of God's word through His sovreignty and power.  God said it and I believe it.

I think the book of John is wonderful, filled with awesome confirmation of the intent of the Old Testament.    In particular I've personally known people who were very moved and "enlightened" (if you will) when they finally were able to grasp what the first chapter of John really meant, because it tells us exactly who and what Jesus was ..and is.........and is to come!  smile
