Hey guys I want to invite you to discuss the Bible as 66 seperate documents.
Whether you believe that the Bible is a collection of stories, or the word of God it does not matter in this thread.
This thread is for discussing the content of the Bible, the books, authors and the culture.
I would like to critically analyze the different books and their purposes.
Have fun! Let's start with John.
In the beginning there was the word...
And the word was with God, and the word was God.
(And Jesus is the word).
Maybe there's room for discussion there, but no room for debate.
It's parallel to Genesis 1: 1, my favorite verse.
A simple declaration of God's word through His sovreignty and power. God said it and I believe it.
What do you think of the book of John? And yes there is room for discussion and not debate, that was my intention :p
I think the book of John is wonderful, filled with awesome confirmation of the intent of the Old Testament. In particular I've personally known people who were very moved and "enlightened" (if you will) when they finally were able to grasp what the first chapter of John really meant, because it tells us exactly who and what Jesus was ..and is.........and is to come!

Since many threads end up in discussions about God and the Bible anyway, with both Believers and nonBelievers inputting, I think it's good to post a particular thread where discussing the Bible is not only okay but welcomed. Doesn't mean religion can't be discussed in other threads, but why...

This thread is an effort to discuss the doctrine of sin and salvation within the Christian religion. We will have to begin by discussing the problem of sin and then the measures taken to deal with it in the wilderness sanctuary. We will then proceed to show how the sacrifices met their fulfilment in...

Obviously if i'm an atheist and I don't believe in your God, why would I take your scriptures as evidence? That doesn't make any sense. Not to mention the bible has this nasty ideal that everything in it is true because God said its true.If it were that simple, everyone could publish a book and say...
