Sorry Cas, but the Nazis were actively destroying established religion in germany and were in the process of growing a new german religion with Hitler as their messiah. One of the first things Hitler did when he took power was to weaken and destroy the Catholic political parties. Do your homework.
I can't believe you have any idea of what you are saying. You are saying that because the catholic church was afraid to oppose hitler, then therefore hitler was catholic. That is one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard.
The first response to this forum question was: 'Since Hitler was born and died a Catholic, you could say Hitler was a follower of Jesus and same for little hitler Bush' was by Castlepaloma, then the fourth line, by mr montgomerey reads: The Nazis and Catholics worked hand-in-hand in exterminating their common enemy. Do your homework. etc until we get here. I read that both of them think that the catholic church may have aided and abetted hitler, and I read that both of them think that hitler was catholic. If I am reading something into what mr montgomerey said, it is because he is alternating between saying something concrete and saying something vague. I guess he thinks it makes him sound like he knows more than he really does. You can't imply things and then act surprised when someone calls you on it. Anyway Casgil, I think mr montgomerey can speak for himself, unless you have something to add to the discussion...
I'm still digesting your previous reply to your own post. Are you saying that most people want to shoot me in the head or you? You also seem to be saying that you don't believe in Einstein. Do you mean the bagel guy or the famous scientist?
The swastika actually came from the Hindu religion. Hitler appropriated it because he like the look. It is now, for better or worse, permanently associated with Nazism. That it was a sign of good luck is meaningless now.
Crispin Mills, son of actress Haley Mills, leader of Kula Shaker and devotee of Eastern religion, got himself into trouble a while back because he wanted to help reclaim the swastika from Nazism. He underestimated the extent to which it is embedded in people's consciousness as part and parcel of it.
I have done my homework. If what you say is true, then you just gave the final brick to all the people who hate the Catholic church (including die-hard Protestants) not to people who want to make Hitler a Christian.
Lew was right and that has been documented by such die-hard right-wing Christian sources as the New York Times, PBS, NPR and the BBC.
Hitler hated Christianity, had the Bible rewritten for a nazi perspective and had drafted legislation to destroy Christian churches.
I've gotten into this discussion before, and although I don't want to argue just for arguments sake, with only rare exceptions my experience has been that the only people who seriously posit that Hitler was a Christian are people who really don't think much of Christianity.
Hitler was a twisted psycho bent on world domination.
Jesus' overall message is a peaceful method to live. However, as this message has been confused by most, it's turned out to be similar to Hitler in the fact that those who follow "religion" allow "religion" to dominate.
@ts both have only one thing similar...both where convinced about their mission though both were misguided....other than that their modus of operation was totally different...hitler didnt wait for imaginary god to intervene...jesus died in false belief...
Most of the World's populating are in third world countries and these countries are doubling ort tripling the USA economic structure. Plus they spend much less on prison an wars than the USA. USA has increase their unemployment 4 time greater than Canada has (per capita)
If USA is not shrinking in power like the Roman did, than - Show me the Money?
Yes, America will shrink like the Romans. By the time it finally does, it will long since cease to have been 'Christian' America. In fact, this is a train of thought that many in the evangelical movement have.
Which is more important, freedom of faith or freedom of speech? Many religious folks are decent, good people. Some of my best friends subscribe to institutionalised superstition - and are good humored enough to let me...
There are a gazillion misconceptions floating around the HP clan of Christians about the beliefs and practices of Catholicism. Who told you what you know? What makes you think it's true? Wanna ask questions of...
