It seems anyone can be compared to Hitler now. Might as well go for the long ball.
Since Hitler was born and died a Catholic, you could say Hitler was a follower of Jesus and same for little hitler Bush
Sorry Cas, but the Nazis were actively destroying established religion in germany and were in the process of growing a new german religion with Hitler as their messiah. One of the first things Hitler did when he took power was to weaken and destroy the Catholic political parties. Do your homework.
The Nazis and Catholics worked hand-in-hand in exterminating their common enemy. Do your homework.
What? I didn't see any crosses at those nazi assemblies, only swastikas.
I'm sure you realize what a stupid question that is.
Considering Your God is all powerful it's not such a stupid question, and the Catholic church is very powerful.
It would be stupid for me to go up face to face with Hitler and demand he is wrong, Hitler would just shoot me in the head, end of story.
I don't believe in god, einstein, and I think most people would want to shoot you in the head, so the hitler thing doesn't prove anything.
I think most people would want to shoot you in the head, so the hitler thing doesn't prove anything.
I have been to a few war zones countries and have had a few guns pointed to my head, and never been harmed in any way, so your logic and or theory is wrong and Hitler like
You're right, the popes did not stand up to Hitler or Mussolini. That is a source of everlasting shame. But it's not the same as saying that Hitler was a Christian.
By the way, did you know that Hitler visited one prominent Muslim leader who actually did sign on to his vision of getting rid of the Jews?
Which means Muslims are as good as Christians?
Thanks for clarifying
Ooh, nice try.
Just because a pope or two failed to stand up to Hitler does not mean no Christians stood up to Hitler. Look up Martin Neimoller and Dietrich Boenhoffer.
You keep swinging for the long ball but so far have only tipped the ball with the outside of your bat.
Ron...there was only one pope during the time of Hitler.
And of course he opposed him by....
Oh wait, he didn't.
Which takes longer for the Catholic church to apologize for, collaboration with the Nazis or protecting the pedophiles within it's own ranks?
I can't believe you have any idea of what you are saying.
You are saying that because the catholic church was afraid to oppose hitler, then therefore hitler was catholic. That is one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard.
You read into what he said. Nowhere did he say what you're implying he said.
The first response to this forum question was:
'Since Hitler was born and died a Catholic, you could say Hitler was a follower of Jesus and same for little hitler Bush' was by Castlepaloma, then the fourth line, by mr montgomerey reads:
The Nazis and Catholics worked hand-in-hand in exterminating their common enemy. Do your homework.
etc until we get here.
I read that both of them think that the catholic church may have aided and abetted hitler, and I read that both of them think that hitler was catholic.
If I am reading something into what mr montgomerey said, it is because he is alternating between saying something concrete and saying something vague. I guess he thinks it makes him sound like he knows more than he really does. You can't imply things and then act surprised when someone calls you on it.
Anyway Casgil, I think mr montgomerey can speak for himself, unless you have something to add to the discussion...
Hitler may have also been a pedophile.
The Nazis would take over churches, remove the crosses and replaced them with swastikas.
That was a strike there.
Do you have the slightest idea what a swastika is?
No, only you ever read anything about anything, the rest of us are waiting for you to give us the facts, so we can quote you and know we are right because you said so.
Is that a serious question?
The swastika actually came from the Hindu religion. Hitler appropriated it because he like the look. It is now, for better or worse, permanently associated with Nazism. That it was a sign of good luck is meaningless now.
Crispin Mills, son of actress Haley Mills, leader of Kula Shaker and devotee of Eastern religion, got himself into trouble a while back because he wanted to help reclaim the swastika from Nazism. He underestimated the extent to which it is embedded in people's consciousness as part and parcel of it.
What exactly does that have to do with my point?
I have done my homework. If what you say is true, then you just gave the final brick to all the people who hate the Catholic church (including die-hard Protestants) not to people who want to make Hitler a Christian.
Lew was right and that has been documented by such die-hard right-wing Christian sources as the New York Times, PBS, NPR and the BBC.
Hitler hated Christianity, had the Bible rewritten for a nazi perspective and had drafted legislation to destroy Christian churches.
I've gotten into this discussion before, and although I don't want to argue just for arguments sake, with only rare exceptions my experience has been that the only people who seriously posit that Hitler was a Christian are people who really don't think much of Christianity.
Now if you had asked the question 'Are Hitler and Muhammed the same' we would get some interesting replies.
Yeah, it's a long ball alright.
Hitler was a twisted psycho bent on world domination.
Jesus' overall message is a peaceful method to live. However, as this message has been confused by most, it's turned out to be similar to Hitler in the fact that those who follow "religion" allow "religion" to dominate.
They both had a mother. They both had dark hair. Jesus probably had a mustache.
Yeah. The similarities are striking.
Jesus is the Son of God....
Hitler was a Colts fan....
Jesus and Hitler were both trying to get the Jews into heaven.
Jesus the half-Jew/half-Roman, caught up in the Jewish/Roman war, kind of like Germany and USA being Roman like. ALL for the ultimate power and failing ultimatly towards One World Order
@ts both have only one thing similar...both where convinced about their mission though both were misguided....other than that their modus of operation was totally different...hitler didnt wait for imaginary god to intervene...jesus died in false belief...
What will Sodom and Gomorrah USA shrink from?
Nothing, which is why it's not found in the book of Revelation.
Most of the World's populating are in third world countries and these countries are doubling ort tripling the USA economic structure. Plus they spend much less on prison an wars than the USA. USA has increase their unemployment 4 time greater than Canada has (per capita)
If USA is not shrinking in power like the Roman did, than -
Show me the Money?
agreeing to what? Christian America will shrink like the Romans
Yes, America will shrink like the Romans. By the time it finally does, it will long since cease to have been 'Christian' America. In fact, this is a train of thought that many in the evangelical movement have.
I finally got some time to come hang out on the forums and find that questions like this actually get traction now.
Where have you been for the last 3 years.
Nothing gets traction like comparing someone to Hitler...
You said it. I find it sad that anybody needs so badly to equate Hitler and Jesus.
Lighten up Chris. The thread was meant as a joke.

Which is more important, freedom of faith or freedom of speech? Many religious folks are decent, good people. Some of my best friends subscribe to institutionalised superstition - and are good humored enough to let me say that without taking offense. But most religions per se enshrine some deeply...

This question was pulled as a question, so I'm submitting it in the forum instead:If, with his dying breath, Hitler had asked Jesus for forgiveness, could he have been admitted to Heaven?

There are a gazillion misconceptions floating around the HP clan of Christians about the beliefs and practices of Catholicism. Who told you what you know? What makes you think it's true? Wanna ask questions of someone who practices her faith within the denomination and not get answers from an...

That Jesus said the only peole you could trust with his word were your Clergy/Church? Ok, another question............when were you taught that the church has the only answers and that Jesus's words are wrong and that you cannot ask questions of the church and you cannot as them if you could?
