Are Jesus and Hitler the same?

It seems anyone can be compared to Hitler now.  Might as well go for the long ball.

Since Hitler was born and died a Catholic, you could say Hitler was a follower of Jesus and same for little hitler Bush

Sorry Cas, but the Nazis were actively destroying established religion in germany and were in the process of growing a new german religion with Hitler as their messiah.  One of the first things Hitler did when he took power was to weaken and destroy the Catholic political parties.  Do your homework.

The Nazis and Catholics worked hand-in-hand in exterminating their common enemy.  Do your homework.

What?  I didn't see any crosses at those nazi assemblies, only swastikas.

You're right, the popes did not stand up to Hitler or Mussolini. That is a source of everlasting shame. But it's not the same as saying that Hitler was a Christian.

By the way, did you know that Hitler visited one prominent Muslim leader who actually did sign on to his vision of getting rid of the Jews?

The Nazis would take over churches, remove the crosses and replaced them with swastikas.

                That was a strike there.

                    Is that a serious question?

The swastika actually came from the Hindu religion. Hitler appropriated it because he like the look. It is now, for better or worse, permanently associated with Nazism. That it was a sign of good luck is meaningless now.

Crispin Mills, son of actress Haley Mills, leader of Kula Shaker and devotee of Eastern religion, got himself into trouble a while back because he wanted to help reclaim the swastika from Nazism. He underestimated the extent to which it is embedded in people's consciousness as part and parcel of it.

What exactly does that have to do with my point?

I have done my homework. If what you say is true, then you just gave the final brick to all the people who hate the Catholic church (including die-hard Protestants) not to people who want to make Hitler a Christian.

Lew was right and  that has been documented by such die-hard right-wing Christian sources as the New York Times, PBS, NPR and the BBC.

      2. Chris Neal profile image82
Chris Nealposted 5 years agoin reply to this

Hitler hated Christianity, had the Bible rewritten for a nazi perspective and had drafted legislation to destroy Christian churches.

I've gotten into this discussion before, and although I don't want to argue just for arguments sake, with only rare exceptions my experience has been that the only people who seriously posit that Hitler was a Christian are people who really don't think much of Christianity.

Yeah, it's a long ball alright.

Hitler was a twisted psycho bent on world domination.

Jesus' overall message is a peaceful method to live. However, as this message has been confused by most, it's turned out to be similar to Hitler in the fact that those who follow "religion" allow "religion" to dominate.

Yes, America will shrink like the Romans. By the time it finally does, it will long since cease to have been 'Christian' America. In fact, this is a train of thought that many in the evangelical movement have.
