Who Will Win Euro 2012?
Euro 2012
Spain
The obvious choice and many people's favourites, Spain are the holder of both the European Championship and the World Cup.
Strengths: They play good passing football and have many of the worlds best players such as Casillas, Pique, Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Silva and Villa.
Their team is so good they have to leave players like Fabregas, Jesus Navas and Pepe Reina on the bench, players who would walk straight into almost any team in the world.
Almost all of their players play for either Barcelona or Real Madrid and so know each other's styles well.
Weaknesses: The fact that they play for those 2 teams means rivalries from the season can carry over and cause feuds in the international team.
If teams sit and defend they can be hit on the break and concede. We saw this when England beat them 1-0 in November.
World Ranking: 1
Germany
Got to the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup.
Strengths: Lots of exciting young players and in Mezut Ozil have one of the most promising young players in the game.
Performed brilliantly to get to the semi-final on the World Cup and have only improved since then.
Weaknesses: Not enough experience at the highest level. The downside to their young team in the inexperience that comes with it, and this could hold them back in the later stages.
World Ranking: 2
Holland
Finished runners-up at the World Cup.
Strengths: Lots of attacking talent suck as Robben, Sneijder, Van Persie, Van Der Vaart and Huntelaar.
Weaknesses: Can be weak at the back, the defence is not up to the same standard as the attack.
Also can be too physical at times; as we saw in the World Cup Final, they always risk getting cards.
World Ranking: 4
Portugal
Round of 16 at the World Cup.
Strengths: Good all-round team with arguably the best player in the world in Ronaldo, and others such as Nani and Raul Meireles
Weaknesses: Can be weak in defence.
World Ranking: 5
England
Round of 16 at the World Cup in 2010.
Strengths: One of the best teams on paper with players like Ferdinand and Terry in defence, Lampard and Gerrard in midfield, Rooney and Ashley Young as forwards.
They also have some great young talent in Wilshere, Cleverley and Welbeck.
Weaknesses: Do not have a manager and will need to hire one soon to have any organization in the team.
Have a tendency for losing every penalty shoot-out they get into, as well as some terrible luck over the years.
World Ranking: 7
Italy
Group stage at the last World Cup.
Went out in the group stage at the 2010 World Cup but won it in 2006.
Strengths: Lots of experience at the highest level and very strong defensively.
Have a good World Cup and European Championship record over the years.
Weaknesses: Ageing team.
World Ranking: 12
