Who Will Win The Premier League 2011-12?
The 2011-2012 season could be the most exciting ever. There is more and more teams coming into the picture and having a chance at the title:
Manchester United
The reigning champions and favourites, many people will be expecting them to win the league for the 20th time this year to pull clear of their rivals Liverpool on 18.
Strengths: Arguably the best manager in the world, Sir Alex Ferguson has won everything their is to win in English football. And then done it again. A deep squad that can survive most injuries to star players.
Weaknesses: Goalkeeper. Edwin Van Der Sar retired after the Champions League Final battering by Barcelona and he has been replaced by David De Gea at a cost of around £18 million. With that kind of money there will be a lot of pressure on him to deliver and as he is only 20 years old he could be shaky. Centre Midfield.Scholes has gone and no-one has come in to replace him
Chelsea
Finished runners-up last season, losing their title, and will be wanting to take it back from United.
Strengths: Experience. Almost every player in their team has won the league at least once and many have played in the world cup.Strikers. With Fernando Torres added to what was already an amazing strikeforce of Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba, teams will have a lot to fear when facing them.
Weaknesses: Ageing squad. Many of their players are over 30 such as Terry, Drogba, Anelka, Lampard, and Cech.
Manchester City
Finished 3rd and won the F.A Cup last season.
Strengths: Money. Thanks to the takeover, Man City have almost unlimited money, and have shown it by buying Sergio Aguero in the transfer window to add to their already star studded squad.
Weaknesses: The team has been assembled so quickly and for such a huge amount of money, there is a lot of egos in the dressing room and Roberto Mancini will have to work hard to get them playing as a team.
The Previous Season
Arsenal
Were pipped to 3rd place by Man City last year.
Strengths: Play good attacking football. Young squad only going to get better. Money to spend from Fabregas deal.
Weaknesses: No player in the squad has won a trophy with Arsenal. Try to pass the ball into the goal.
Tottenham
Finished 5th and qualified for the Europa League just ahead of Liverpool.
Strengths: Lots of attacking talent in Modric, Van Der Vaart, Bale, Lennon, Defoe, and Adebayor.
Weaknesses: Not so good at the back with weak full backs and Ledley King having injury troubles.
Liverpool
Finished in sixth just behind Tottenham.
Strengths: Good manager who is loved by the fans. Two good strikers in Suarez and Carroll. No European football to concentrate on.
Weaknesses: Weak at the back, won't get money from European games.
