Why is it important to warm up before doing exercise? What are the consequences of not warming up?
Think of it like this. What happens to a cold rubber band or one that has been stting in the freezer? It breaks if you pull it when cold.
I need to exercise, but working out without warming up is conducive to having injuries from stressed muscles and joints.
it's important to warm up before exercise so that you stretch out your muscles and it's just as important to stretch after exercise to break up the gasses that have formed in your muscles because of the exercises....
Moderate exercise everyday can best be performed with both a warm up, and cool down period. Physical benefits from exercise are numerous; increased strength, increased cardiovasculsr endurance, additional flexability, increased dexterity, and better mental attitude. Medical experts warn about improper warm up leading to muscle failure, and improper cool down leading to lactic acid build up in the muscles. Stretching exercises and mild calisthenic exercises work the body to avoid these injuries.
The purpose is to prepare your muscles for the workload ahead. Cold muscles do not stretch well and something as simple as bending over to tie your shoe could lead to pain that lasts for days. If you do not warm up, you risk hurting yourself while exercising and if you haven't stretched your muscles at the end of your workout you risk increasing the length of any soreness you may experience. You can lessen the duration of soreness by stretching after your workout or even eliminate it in many cases.
Warming up before exercises are indeed important as they help the people to start working out better, balance their metabolism well and avoid pain in body-parts during working-out. The consequences of not warming up included tiredness after or during work out, pain in body parts not only in the same day but continue for next few days-this may hamper one's eagerness to continue to work out daily and metabolism will not be maintained properly. I did dance-workouts daily. I did warm up before dance-workout and cool down after dance-workout. Thanks to warm up (and also cool-down), I am able to work out regularly in a proper and comfortable manner without any problem. Hence, warming-up (and also cooling down) is highly recommended before exercises.
