It's hard for me to answer cause I am a cavs fan, but honestly I watch a lot more cavs games than Lakers games. Just the things that I've seen LeBron do is simply amazing. The way he can drive to the basket, nobody is better at that. I do think Kobe is a better outside shooter, and maybe a better defender. As far a the excitment factor nobody can do what Lebron does. I do respect kobe a lot, and I really wish the cavs were not going to get beat by the magic so we could see a great finals. I appericate your answer and respect your opinion. Thank you.

With 3 rings and coming up on his 4th one shortly.....its no reason why people shouldn't say Kobe Bryant. (Best Player In The NBA)

Not Only can he score 30 or 40 points in one night (if he wants or needs to) BUT he also gives you solid defense (As He Makes All-Defensive 1st Team Just About Every Year) and also Gives you intelligence on the court as he knows what to do and when at the most opportune time. He helps his teammates out being on the floor and making great reads on every play

Which has kids sayin "Momma there goes that man" destroying defenses and out smarting the opposing team and a coaches nightmare.

    A short answer about LeBron:
Yes he is a Phenomenal Player but just think about it for a second....LeBron HAS to do that in order for his team to win.....Kobe DOESNT HAVE to score 30 points a game with 8 asst. and 12 rebounds etc. etc. BUT even when Kobe doesnt have a big scoring game....If you watched the game somehow Kobe Bryant did ALL the  "Little Things" to lead his team to a victory (which is why Kobe is once again in the championship and LeBron is going home....AGAIN)....

Sorry LeBron Fans But Kobe IS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE....

Oh and One More thing....Being The Best Player doesn't have anything to do with STATS...Its just the ability to be great and make everyone around you take it to another level...

Kobe is the best player period for one he won this years NBA Championship and absolutely dominated the Orlando Magic while the otherhand Lebron James struggled and became frustrated and rattled by the Orlando Magic

Kobe can take charge and score a bunch of points at will.  But LeBron can take charge and win ballgames all by himself with other-worldly play on both sides of the court.

Kobe; he has four rings, LeBron has zero. Also, Kobe has played longer. We can't assume LeBron will still be dominant the way Kobe is in six years.

Kobe is a better player than Lebron. Maturity has a big part in it, it comes with the game. You start off in the league childish than grow into a man, especially with these young high school draftees.

Kobe right now is the best player in the NBA as his accomplishments speak for themselves.  Do I feel that Lebron will one day become the best player ever in the NBA?  Absolutely.  His size and athleticism alone make him one of the best players in the league and couple that with tremendous passing ability, defense, and exceptional ball handling skills and you have a "once in a generation player" in the making.  I'd say in about 2-3 three years Lebron will be at the top of the NBA mountain and help revolutionize and further globalize basketball.

Have to go with LeBron. Keep in mind that a lot of guys have rings but that doesn't automatically mean they're better players than every guy who doesn't have a ring. Kobe's a super talented superstar, no doubt, but LeBron can do it all and he's not even near his prime yet!

This is a tough question for me because I love Kobe. He is always my #1 pick in fantasy leagues every year. However, Lebron James is more valuable.
After Shaq left, Kobe and his Lakers spent a lot of many players but still had only a decent  team. With Kobe as the leader, the Lakers made the playoffs but never got past the first round.
Lebron James has had even worse players around him, but still took the Cavs to the finals and took the Celtics to game seven the year they won it all. Basically, Lebron, with worse players to work with, took his team farther than Kobe did when he was in a similar position. That's why Lebron is better. With a team much worse than Kobe, he took his team farther.

I kind of answered this question about a year ago. Went back through my things and found it, made a hub for it: http://hubpages.com/hub/The-Big-Debate-Kobe-vs-LeBron

Lebron is the best. He is the best defender in the game, as well as one of the most prolific offensive forces. The only reason it's even a question is because Kobe's jump shot is more consistent. If the Lakers didn't have so much talent, opposing teams could focus on Kobe and make him look mortal. Lebron is the best finisher and can single-handedly break down double teams better than any other player. Lebron is better than anyone at the rim, on both sides of the court. What would happen if Kobe and Lebron switched places. Lebron's Lakers would go undefeated and Kobe's Cavs would be much worse off. Lebron is better--no question.

The Best player in the game today is Kobe. I am not a Laker fan. Kobe is the best player because of his leadership ability. Lebron is not that far behind. If I had to give it a number between 1 and 10, I would say Kobe 10 - Lebron 9.4 . Lebron will eventually nudge Kobe.

Kobe Bryant is the best player right now because there isn't or hasn't been a more complete player and a more competitive player since Michael Jordan.  Lebron is one of the best there is no denying that. for a guy his size to do what he does is incredible but there are certain things he still can perfect a bit during games especially in closing times, because we all know that when the game is coming to an end there is no other player that draws more defenders that kobe because of his assassign abilities. Lebron could still learn how to close games better. and kobe has the best fade away every with the exception of Jordan which was also what made him a dangerous player.  kobe is very flexible and it matters not how tall players are than him or stronger he still manages to fine loop holes to squeeze through and make some of the toughest shots

    Kobe.

Simply due to the fact of "Who do opposing teams dread playing?". Although Lebron will get there in due time, Kobe is called the Black Mamba for a reason. Please remember, Kobe gets all the calls down the stretch for a reason!

kobe is the best player in the game period... Kobe is hands down the best player in the NBA..

way better than lebron.. kobe probably is a ballhog but he does have 4 rings and is much more clutch even though hes a adulterer:D - JK but yeah seriously kobe is way better.

    GO LAKERS!!!

LeBron is better overall. The Rings will come.
Kobe has always had a dominant force down low to win a ring.  Shaq & now Bynum & Gasol
    What has LeBron had?
60 game seasons, a finals appearance, conf. finals and very mediocre talent

Kobe w/o a dominant post player had a .500 team,
45 win-game seasons and lost in 1st round each time.

oooohhh but he scored 81 points against Toronto which makes people think he is the greatest..not even close. he is a ball hog..

he definitely was not the reason Lakers won game 7. (going 6 for 24).....It was Gasol rebounding during the WHOLE finals and defense & Artest really helped win Game 7. Kobe had 1 or 2 good games.

Lebron James, he is the be all and end all of Cavs, and he can make or win games all by himself, (he moved to Miami now) plus his stats and records shows it all -- and he is still too young, imagine the records he will set after eight years more of playing, he will be same age as Kobe right now. Back to back MVP is awesome enough for a young man like him.
