Who are the greatest Laker starting five team of all time?
They have to all be part of the same team like Bryant, Fisher, Bynum, Artest, and Gasol.
Fisher, Bryant, Artest, Gasol, Bynum... Obviously, there have been a bunch of star-studded Lakers teams over the years. But none have been better than they ave been the last couple years. The NBA's never been as deep as it is now, so it makes sense that they don't ominate as some of the other Lakers' teams. But many of those teams stars were far out of their prime when they were playing with greats that were in their prime. Also, other teams didn't have a 6th man like Lamar Odom that was a legitimate all-star. The next best starting five (despite their lack of success), would have to be Payton, Bryant, Malone, Shaq, and whoever their fifth guy would be (Fisher, Rick Fox, Devean George). However, they never gelled together and didn't play up to their potential. It didn't help that Malone and Payton were way past their primes, and there was a rift growing between Kobe, Shaq, and Phil Jackson. But that year, their starting five had to look the best on paper.
Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Keith Erickson, Tom Hawkins.....These five players are (in my opinion) the greatest Lakers' team ever. They were the primetime team. I am a Celtics fan so it hurts me to say this when the Celtics were in the Era of Bill Russel and consecutive championships.

Well, after their 2009 title win, Kobe has proved that he CAN INDEED win without Shaq, but here's a new insult for him: can he win one without FISHER? ALL 4 OF HIS TITLES (1999-2000, 2000-01, 2001-02, 2008-09)have come with Fisher as his tag team partner in the Lakers' backcourt.
