If you could attend one world sporting event of your choice, what would it be and why?

The Quidditch World Cup, of course!

In all seriousness, though, I would love to attend the FIFA World Cup. I'm not a big fan of soccer, or even of sports in general, but the energy at that event seems amazing and I would love to experience it first hand.

I'm sure it will be a very popular answer but for me it would have to be the FIFA World Cup Final. I actually went to the World Cup in 2006 in Germany. I was staying with my Dad in Munich and had no tickets but thought I could pick some up for smaller, earlier round games no problem. Australia were playing Brazil in Munich while I was there and I got offered two tickets - at a cost of $400.00 US each! Yes, 400 US Dollars per ticket. Obviously, I have yet to see a match in the World Cup Finals and having been football (soccer) crazy all my life, it is a huge dream... The experience of being there for ten or eleven days while the tournament was going on, however, was something in itself.

I don't really watch soccer so I don't need to go to the world cup smile

I would love to attend the summer olympics! It seems amazing- the opening ceremonies, all the different events and the Olympic village. I think it would be amazing to be there.

FIFA World Cup Final, I agree! That, or the Olympics in London this year. But I can't go to London, so I am going to Brazil in 2014 to see the World Cup. It'll be great, I bet. It's been my dream, because I'm a big fan of football (or soccer, for those who call it that. I call it football because my dad's hispanic and he's always said that). We have relatives there, thankfully.

The Ryder Cup.  The world's greatest golfers playing for nothing but pride. All class, tradition and ettiquette and no chance for violence, political motivation and absolutely no racism. No riots, no mascots, no cheerleaders. All sportsmanship.

Having gone to the Fifa World Cup in SA, I would really be up for a trip to the Olympic Games. It's mostly because everything is happening in one place rather than matches spread across the country like the world cup. The atmosphere in the Olympic town must be excellent.

Agree with you stggles, on the ease of having all sports in one place. Most world cup sports like football and rugby use different cities and stadiums dotted around making travelling distances an issue. London will be buzzing for the Olympics!
