   Who is the greatest athlete ever?
   
   This can be a human or an animal. Who do you believe is the greatest athlete that has left a mark on the history of this earth?

   Muhammed Ali was known as "The Greatest" and I think he was. Olympic champion and three-time heavyweight champion and a participant in the greatest boxing match ever. As far as leaving a mark on history, his protest of the Vietnam War inspired others such as Martin Luther King Jr. to also speak out. He was perhaps the first Muslim in the United States to be admired and respected by many people of all religions and races. Presidents bestowed awards upon him for his humanitarian efforts in his later years.

      Great choice.  He was a man of many principles.  My father and I met him in an airport once and he was very kind and easy to talk to.  He was the definitive world class athlete.

   Well theres so many greats its hard to say who was the greatest ever. I mean look at Bill Russel, poeple talk about all of Michael Jordans rings that they forget that Bill Russel had like 5 more. Even though i do think Michael Jordan is either the greatest or right next to it. Another great is Peyton Manning, how he can judge a defense, he didnt win many championships but he made his teammates and did a lot in the community. Lance Armstrong would have to be mentioned up there somewhere. I mean he did win a heck of a lot of titles. I think even Tim Tebow will be one of the greats, not because of just on field what he can do if they let him mature more in the NFL but what he does off the field. He's already one of the most inspirational guys of today. But hands down most athletic guy, just talking about his pure abilities would have to be Herchel Walker. He was the most athletic and he has been doing 1500 pushups and 2000 sit ups a day since he was 18. At 50 years old he is in MMA and isn't doing too bad for 50. One fighter said that if Walker was in his 20's he would dominate in any sport. And of course BLACKANDGOLDJACK's pick of Muhammed Ali, not only an inspiration in the ring but outside as well. But i never liked how cocky he was. The only person who can be that cocky in my opinion and should probably be up close to number one is Bruce Lee. He not only had speed, the man had incredible strength and hitting power. Ever see the 1inch punch? Just incredible.

      I'm surprised that you think Muhammed Ali was cocky.  I met him in an airport one time and he was very kind and so down to earth.  On the other hand, I met Lance Armstrong as well and he was a jerk!  What about women?  Love Bruce Lee as a choice.
